– Main recording studio with Control and live room, featuring Logic Pro X, Waves, Reason, and high spec Microphones. – Live music venue with a variety of live audio equipment: Industry-standard microphones and DI boxes, PA and monitor speakers and outboard equipment. Our rehearsal rooms are equipped with all the kit required to rehearse and perform your favourite music such as - PA Systems, Mics, Amps, Guitars, Keyboards, Drums, Marimba, Grand Piano and Yamaha Upright Pianos. Just rock up and start to learn tracks in a range of ensembles, from solo acts to full bands. Also, our fantastic Ormond room is a fully equipped performance space for recording or performing original songs or covers. Writing and performing music is at the heart of what we do throughout your courses here. Assessment You will be continually assessed on a Pass or Fail basis on Units 1 - 7. The final Unit 8 will be graded on a Pass, Merit, Distinction level. The work towards your final unit will begin towards the end of term 1 in your first year. Much of the work is practical in nature but written assignments and presentations are required to support this. There is a big emphasis on research and this is excellent preparation for university, as the qualification is assessed more like a degree than an A Level. There is no final examination. Progression On completion of this Level 2 course, you could progress on to the Level 3 Music and Production Course. You could also go on to be a performer, technician, promoter, venue manager, live sound engineer, songwriter, music producer or studio engineer. Entry Requirements Five GCSEs at grade 3 including English Language or Mathematics. Entry is by audition and interview to demonstrate that you are advanced enough with your instrument/voice/ digital compositions to start composing and rehearsing with a band.
Overview If you are keen to establish yourself as a singer, songwriter, performer, musician, digital composer, producer, rapper or DJ, then this is the course for you to explore your talent. A foundation course that will teach you how to play as part of a band, compose music for digital platforms on Logic Pro, mix tracks and perform to audiences, as well as business skills to start making it happen. As the Music Industry changes, artists develop a range of skills to meet these demands and this course brings you right up to date. From composing ballads to digital scores, getting a band together and your first recording and mixing session, to promoting to your fanbase, this is the way to get noticed! Structure On this course, you will have the opportunity to study a variety of music performance-related areas. The UAL Diploma consists of eight units. Units 1 - 7 are skill-building units that prepare you for Unit 8, which is your final major project (FMP). Units 1 - 7 cover: – A range of elements in the development and delivery of a music performance – Roles and responsibilities in the production of a music performance – Listening skills to identify the different musical elements of musical performances. Teaching & Learning The facilities on our campus feature the latest music industry-standard equipment. They include: – Two Apple Mac (2017 iMac) production suites consisting of more than 20 individual workstations running Logic Pro- X/Reason/Sibelius and Avid mini boxes.
