Assessment Externally assessed exams, industrial placement, employer-set project and synoptic assessment in a healthcare setting. One exam will be on the healthcare content and the other exam will be on the Science. Progression On completion of this course, you will be able to go directly into employment as a Healthcare Assistant. You could also undertake a Higher Apprenticeship as a healthcare science associate which includes roles such as phlebotomist (taking blood), cardiographer (monitoring the heart) or a newborn hearing screener (assessing hearing in newborn babies). Alternatively, you could go on to study in Higher Education in degrees such as Radiography, Nuclear Medicine or Cardiac Physiology. Entry Requirements Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English Language, Mathematics and Double Science (or Triple Science) or Level 2 in Science with a Distinction, alongside GCSE grade 4 or above in English Language and Mathematics. Alternatively Level 2 in Health and Social Care with a grade B or Distinction, alongside GCSE grade 4 or above in Science, Mathematics and English.
