REHAU’S RAUTHERMEX PRE-INSULATED PIPE WAS SELECTED FOR THE PROJECT DUE TO ITS DURABILITY AND LOW HEAT LOSSES… PIPEWORK
REHAU supplied RAUTHERMEX pre- insulated pipe, a specialist solution, to St Ronan’s College. The pipework is integral to the distribution of heat from the college’s large commercial air-source heat pump. It is extremely durable, offering maximum protection once buried underground with a durable outer jacket, PE-Xa carrier pipes and bonded PU foam insulation. This system offers highest thermal insulation in its class, with a lambda value of 0.0199W/mK. REHAU also supplied its EVERLOC jointing system, a leak-tight compression sleeve fitting which requires no hot works. These joints can be completed by mechanical contractors, using RAUTOOLs, which REHAU loaned for the duration of this project. EVERLOC has been tried and tested over one billion times worldwide, offering a rapid, safe and permanently leak-tight
connection for REHAU pipe systems. Additional sealing elements are not required, as the pipe itself acts as a seal with four sealing ribs guaranteeing a completely secure connection. Prior to the installation, REHAU Area Sales Manager Mark Thompson went on site to train NUGENT’s installation team on the system, jointing and how to use the tooling. Together with the REHAU technical team, Mark was also on hand to support NUGENT throughout the installation. Mark Thompson, REHAU Area Sales Manager for Ireland, said, “While one key challenge for heat network projects is navigating obstacles in the trench, the flexibility and ability to utilise long pipework runs make this easy to overcome avoiding any additional jointing to work around obstacles or other services or through tight spaces. “This project clearly demonstrates the
