SHANGANAGH CASTLE ESTATE, SHANKILL, DUBLIN PROJECT PROFILE

DANFOSS HEAT INTERFACE UNITS SUPPLIED BY HEVAC ARE INTEGRAL TO IRELAND’S LARGEST PASSIVE HOUSE DEVELOPMENT, THE FIRST PROJECT TO BE SUPPORTED BY THE LAND DEVELOPMENT AGENCY… DISTRICT HEATING

Hevac Ltd has supplied a complete district heating infrastructure to Shanganagh Castle Estate, using heat interface units (HIUs) manufactured by Danfoss Ltd. Working alongside M&P Mechanical, the supplier and manufacturer’s products and services were integral to the project achieving compliance with Passive House principles. A model for large-scale, low-carbon residential developments, the district heating scheme’s central energy centre is powered by an air-to-water heat pump with standby high-efficiency gas modular

boilers, distributing heat via HIUs within each apartment. Delivering high energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, each unit is equipped with a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, ensuring optimal indoor air quality. Danfoss Termix VVX-IV HIUs have been installed in 546 apartments, connected to heater batteries mounted on the heat recovery units, providing space heating and instantaneous domestic hot water to each dwelling. Shanganagh Castle Estate represents the latest in a series of district heating projects delivered by Danfoss alongside Hevac and M&P Mechanical in Ireland. Bill Carbery, Business Development Manager Ireland, said, “Danfoss was pleased to support this prestigious project as a preferred district heating partner. Always a pleasure to work with M&P Mechanical due to its professionalism, we would hope to continue the partnership in the future.” Hevac is one of Ireland’s premier providers of HVAC system solutions for commercial, industrial and high-density residential building services.
