METHVEN SALES MANAGER FOR IRELAND DENNIS ROMO HIGHLIGHTS THE POTENTIAL IMPACT WATER-SAVING TAPS AND SHOWERS COULD HAVE FOLLOWING WATER CONSERVATION ORDERS… Water efficiency in focus

As hosepipe bans extend across Ireland and national concerns mount over water supply and infrastructure, tap and shower manufacturer Methven is calling for a greater focus on the huge impact upgrading fixtures and fittings can have on water preservation. Following a drier-than-average autumn, winter and spring, water provider Uisce Éireann recently implemented water conservation orders for three supplies, restricting the use of garden hosepipes and other non-essential water uses for households and commercial premises. A cost-benefit analysis commissioned by The Water Forum found that installing water-saving taps, toilets and showers in the 300,000 new homes planned by 2030 could save 2.2 million cubic metres of water—and reduce state spending on

water and wastewater services by €9.7m. Despite Ireland’s reputation for abundant rainfall, infrastructure inefficiencies and climate pressures are creating regional water stress, particularly in the east. Nearly 40% of treated water is lost through leaks, and projections show drier summers and reduced stream flows in coming decades. Methven holds three of the six global patents for water-saving shower technology, all of which are integrated across its product lines. Dennis Romo, Sales Manager for Ireland at Methven, said, “There is a real spotlight on water preservation across Ireland at the moment, and with good reason. “Businesses and communities are being encouraged to reduce their water usage and, with conservation orders in place, it’s

clear we need practical, immediate steps to ensure a more resilient and sustainable future.” “The solutions already exist, and they’re available now. The accumulative impact of switching to water-efficient fixtures and fittings is huge, and it’s time to put that at

the top of the agenda.” https://uk.methven.com
