This year’s entry into the provincials is a first for the regional hockey club. Malette noted that the Wild team during the 2008- 09 season came close to qualifying for the All-Ontario event but got tapped out in the district playoffs. “They had a very good team that year,” he said. Malette credited the players focus on the team motto “Success is a choice” and solid teamwork as two of the key factors to the Wild’s success during the past two seasons. “That also is one of the team’s mottoes,” he said. “The ‘we’ has to be bigger than the ‘me’.” The Wild have their first game of the week-long provincial championships

The two teams to beat at the provincials, Malette noted, will be the Thunder and Toronto’s Marlies.
