Hello from the VDS Hobby Wood Shop Stewards! By: Rick Perry
Hello January, the Park is filling up and the Wood Shop is getting busier with all kinds of projects being worked on and completed.
Keith Wheeler, George Gayler, and Lou Parrent are working on a new VDS sign for Linda, Gary Hope is working on a new sun glass case, Lenny Dehart made his first snowman in Lathe 101 and in Lathe 102 he finished his first Wine Bottle Stopper and Lou Parrent completed a larger-than-life snowman on the Lathe.
Barney Pounds made a cabinet for our new Tool Sharpening Grinder, thank YOU Barney!
On February 8, 2023, we will be offering our Woodshop Orientation Class, 9:00 till 10:30 followed by our Lathe Orientation Class, 11:00 till 12:30 pm. Please sign up in the office. This year’s fee is $40.00 per person, $50.00 per household per season October 2022 through September 2023. We accept cash only, thank you. The Shop Stewards have been keeping busy helping people with their projects as well as holding lathe 101 and 102 classes. If you have any questions concerning these classes, please give one of the stewards a call or stop by the woodshop during hours. We all seem to have a lot of fun making saw dust. For those of you who have already taken the Lathe Orientation class as well as Lathe 101 and 102, remember you can now start making other items, i.e., you can make your own bottle stopper, ice cream scoop, pen, bowls or anything else, you will need to talk to one of the Shop Stewards and schedule a one on one class.
We hope to see our existing Woodshop people down in the shop and also see some new faces in our upcoming classes. Stop in and visit us, everyone is welcome.
That’s it for now, have a happy saw dust day! Your Shop Stewards
