with a wood burning firepit. In addition to the firepits, there is a large built-in heater, allowing the family to use the porch year- round. This space is particularly unique because of the work Kyle did on the structural elements of the gable to maximize the view of the lake. Being in the commercial construction industry, he was able to use steel framing in this area. By coupling the strength of steel with his artistic eye, he seamlessly integrated structure into the design in a way that makes the steel serve as an aesthetic feature and not just a functional one. More of the home’s uniqueness stems from two rooms very personal to the homeowners, the gym and piano room. The gym opens to the back porch area with a large glass and metal garage door and is a space that Kyle says he uses daily, while Katie, a talented musician, finds the piano room very important. She carefully selected a modern glass chandelier with gold accents to hang just above her black baby grand piano, which is perfectly framed in the room by a large picture window. Smooth textured walls and a sleek coffered ceiling add to the elegance of the space as well. The wall texture feature was continued throughout the house and was also extremely important to the family. “We wanted flat textured walls with sharp corners throughout,” said Kyle. “It was actually difficult to find anybody that could do it; you don’t see it done much around here” The master bedroom features two adjoining window walls, both of which look out at the lake.
