INTRODUCTION
A regular exhibitor with Morningside Gallery for over twenty years, it is with great pleasure that we introduce this Marion Drummond Solo Exhibition. A year in the making, and with her love for the natural world ever present, we follow the changing seasons and colours through Marion’s fluid and joyous mark making. Always painting from life, Marion charges her paintings with emotional immediacy, transmitting her appreciation of form and beauty - her garden and its flowers, dancers in motion and repose, and even her humble welly boots. A professional artist for over thirty years, Marion’s work can be found in collections at home and internationally, and she regularly exhibits in selected galleries throughout Scotland and in London. She has won numerous painting prizes over the years and in 2018 she was awarded Diploma of Artist Membership of the Paisley Art Institute (PAI). Marion’s subject matter is always real and studied; the number of petals on a flower, the atmosphere and presence of a sitter, or the curve of her welly boot as it makes its way through familiar muddy territory in the woods near her Killearn home. She brings all of these subjects to life on the canvas, favouring the directness of rags and her fingers over brushes, sculpting the paint as she goes, and expressing her sense of kinship and connection with each of her subjects.
We hope that you will enjoy this catalogue of images and join us at the gallery for the Private View on Friday the 15th of March, from 6-8pm, with Marion in attendance.
