I was fortunate to serve as a member of the Applegate Trail board along with Linda, who, as quartermaster, was responsible for many of the major details of the 51-day trek -- making sure there were water and food for the animals, campsites and signage, permissions to be on public and private lands and, her special touch, asking each County’s sheriff’s posse along the way to escort the wagons through their County. During those years, she was truly living in the 1800s.
