EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS NEW ADVANCEMENTS
Jason & Katie Hill SOUTH CAROLINA Become a Professional Friend Maker
One of the biggest lessons Katie learned in her Melaleuca journey was not to prejudge others. “Too often I was deciding that people would just want to be shoppers, so I would not tell them about the business side of Melaleuca,” Katie says. “I had a great customer base but not a lot of leaders. A big moment for me was realizing that if I’m going to attract people who want to build a business and create income, I’ve got to talk about what I’m doing. You don’t have to wait until your check reaches a certain amount before you share it with others. These days, so many families are just barely getting by. Letting them know you can make an income here might mean everything to them.” It’s also important to know that setbacks and struggles are going to happen. “I’ve missed more goals at Melaleuca than I’ve achieved,” Katie says. “It’s totally okay to miss goals. It’s normal and it will happen. You need to focus on the long term. It’s not if something good is going to happen, but when . You’ve got to remember that you’re creating something stable with Melaleuca that’s going to be there for you for a really long time.”
Melaleuca entered Katie’s life at just the right time. She was involved in an online business but wasn’t completely satisfied. “In my heart, I just knew that something was missing,” she says. So when National Director Brittney McLaughlin invited her to view Melaleuca: An Overview , Katie was open to it. Right away, Katie realized that Melaleuca was different than anything she had seen before. “As soon as the Overview was over, I called Brittney up and said, ‘Enroll me now—this is amazing!’” Katie recalls. “I couldn’t get over the idea of repeat income and having customers who love what they’re purchasing and who come back and buy every single month. That’s what was missing in my previous business.” Katie also loved Melaleuca’s emphasis on building real relationships. “I get to be a professional friend maker,” Katie says. “It all starts with being a good listener, finding out the pain points in a person’s life, and then knowing what in Melaleuca can help ease that problem. And you don’t quit loving them if they say no to Melaleuca. I had someone cancel their membership, but she reenrolled later on and is now a Senior Director 3. You never know when the time will be right for someone.”
