Hard Work
The Key to a Successful Melaleuca Business Hard work. It doesn’t sound very appealing. It’s old-fashioned, and it surely is not considered romantic. But it is the key to almost every successful business venture. When people ask me, “What is the key to building a successful Melaleuca business?” I know they are looking for some profound statement or magic formula. But the answer is very simple. Clearly, all those who have created the most successful businesses have one thing in common: They are hard workers—very hard workers! And they
The good news about all this is that success can be had by every single person who wants it bad enough! There is no elusive “magic formula” that is attainable by the “fortunate” or the “few” who discover it! Success with Melaleuca appears to be an absolutely sure thing for those who persistently work hard at the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities. The Difference Is Discipline It takes discipline to own your own business—deciding what hours to open for business and when to be closed for the day, etc.—especially if you are used to working for a boss who has always told you what time to come in and what time to go home. It’s kind of like when the kids go off to college. It’s a real test to see if they can get themselves out of bed each morning and discipline themselves to do their homework and get to bed on time so they can get adequate rest. Only those with self- discipline will make it. So it is also with Melaleuca. Only those who know where they want to go and discipline themselves to set aside time on a daily basis to work their Melaleuca business will reach their goals.
In our business, persistence seems to trump all other noble traits! People who keep going, never give up, and never quit, they always make it to the finish line! ”
are persistent! In our business, persistence seems to trump all other noble traits! People who keep going, never give up, and never quit, they always make it to the finish line!
To be sure, there are many distractions. In our world, there are literally thousands of ways we can spend our free time. Working

Setting Goals So what is the solution? How do you discipline yourself to get out and get to work? My counsel is to first write down your goals. Sit down with your spouse and decide where you want to be ten years from now, five years from now, and one year from now. Then develop a plan to get there. Write it down! Make a commitment to yourself as to what you are going to do to make your dreams come true. Remind yourself that this is your life! You are alive right now! You can’t keep waiting until you can find the time. Life is passing you by! This is it! We all hope for a life after this life. We probably don’t know much about what the next life will be like. But we have this one now. Let’s not waste it! Let’s make the absolute most of it that we can. Share your goals, commitments, and plans with someone else. We get more committed when we tell others what we plan to do. And then follow through! If you want to make your life the best that it can be, write down your goals and your personal action plan, and get to work. Don’t procrastinate any further! Call your support team and tell them that you are ready to go to work! Or you could wait until you have more time, but then nothing changes, does it?
your business can always wait “one more day.” The fact that Melaleuca is a “part-time” business makes it even more difficult to stay focused. We get caught up doing things that seem more urgent (or more fun) in the moment. Yet it is clear that only those who are disciplined and stay focused on their goals will reach them. The Main Thing Stephen Covey always pointed out that “the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.” At Melaleuca, the “main thing” for growing your business is enrolling new customers. No other activity is as rewarding as enrolling new customers and mentoring them to do the same. Fortunately, enrolling new customers is not difficult. Very few people find that they can’t do it. It’s just that they need to find the time or make the time to get out and do it. It’s that self-discipline that seems to be the hard part for most people who see others succeeding but don’t quite get there themselves. Those who build big Melaleuca businesses have the persistence to put themselves on a rigorous regimen of enrolling one customer after another. They spend their free time adding to their contact list, calling to set appointments, and introducing new customers to the products and to the business opportunity. That’s the “hard work” I’m talking about. Actually, it’s not “hard”—and very few people would actually call it “work.” Once they get into the swing of it, it’s really a lot of fun! But for those who do not have a calendar or a plan of when they are going to work their business, make appointments to do presentations, and enroll new customers this week, the hard work seems to be getting themselves to go out and do it.
Sincerely,

How often do you let the goals you set and the efforts you make to achieve them be influenced by what other people think and do?
One of National Director 7 Maria Mosca’s greatest strengths is her mindset of owning her success. She doesn’t let anyone else determine for her whether she will reach her goals! Her secret? She has a powerful why that gets her out of bed every morning, rain or shine. She doesn’t let the noes discourage her. Then, by doing the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities every day, she ensures that the setbacks she encounters don’t slow her down for long. And by celebrating the wins of her team members, she’s showing them the power they have to determine their own success. Right from the start as a Melaleuca Marketing Executive, you are equipped to determine your own journey toward your goals. First, you identify your why . With a powerful why driving you, no one else can get between you and your goals. Then you commit to doing the right activities every day. Hopefully you have someone holding you accountable for fulfilling your commitment and reaching your daily and weekly goals. Those are the ingredients of Maria’s mindset! Take a few minutes to read this interview with Maria Mosca. Look for what Maria has done to develop the mindset of owning her success. What changes could you make right
now to develop that mindset in your own life’s journey? Q: Why don’t you start by telling us how your Melaleuca journey begins? A: I grew up in a steel town called Hamilton in Ontario, Canada, and worked for one of the largest steel companies in North America. I did some modeling on the side, just for fun, which is how I discovered a jewelry business that centered around home parties. I loved it and threw parties on the side for six or seven years. When the steel company went through a huge merger, they laid off 2,100 employees in a day, and I remember feeling totally calm about it because I had a business to fall back on, one where I was actually making more money. It made me realize how much I love being self-employed. That jewelry business is where I met my first mentor, Joan, who eventually introduced me to Melaleuca. Enrolling with Melaleuca was the best decision I ever made. Q: That’s quite a leap. What gave you the confidence to take the leap? Well, for starters, Melaleuca was a debt- free, privately held company and they were looking to expand. That was great. But what impressed me the

Q: What do you say to your team as words of encouragement?
Q: I’m sure you’ve had ups and downs in the years since 1999. Are there any particularly challenging moments that stick out, ones that caused you to hit pause and reassess your path? A: There was a period of nine years when I didn’t advance, and that was hard. I was constantly telling myself to stop fixating on titles and my own advancement and to try really hard just to be thankful and content. After a while, I convinced myself that I’d grown as much as I was ever going to grow. But something switched in 2015 when I enrolled my friend, Senior Director 5 Lynda Sohal. I’d known her for years and had approached her previously about coming on board, but it was never the right time. Over the years, though, she watched our success story unfold, and she finally sat my husband down and said, “Okay, show me what you guys are really doing here.” It was reinvigorating. I had drifted into a headspace where I believed there was nobody left for me to work with. Enrolling her reminded me that I still had road ahead of me. There was another stretch, closer to the beginning when I first enrolled with Melaleuca, when I just kept getting no after no . And I thought, “This is weird.” I’d been getting basically straight yeses almost every day, or at least I had people asking me to call back another time. But these were hard noes . It started to eat at me a bit. Finally, I took out a piece of paper and wrote this down: “I will never allow anyone’s lack of interest or effort to dictate my success.” I stuck it on the wall in front of me and read it every day. It works when you’re riding high, too, because it’s a reminder that you can only ever really rely on yourself. Without that mental exercise, I would’ve stopped dead in my tracks.
most was Melaleuca’s founder, Frank VanderSloot. He was humble and down-to-earth and had hardworking parents like I did. He earned his way through life. Nothing was handed to him. I still remember when Joan introduced me to Corporate Director 9 Ed Bestoso, her mentor. This was back in 1999. There were no Zoom calls, no cell phones, and very few computers. Ed faxed me a presentation that he had condensed into 15 pages, and he literally talked me through it over the phone. I swear I could hear his posture, his conviction, and his success. I thought, “Here’s a million-dollar earner who wants to help me. Let’s do this.” Q: It sounds like you had a gut feeling you should start a Melaleuca business. Was there any doubt at all? How did you work through it? A: When Joan approached me about Melaleuca, I remember laughing because it was the fifth or sixth time I’d been approached about this company, but I still couldn’t figure out what they actually made. Here’s why: Every person who approached me gave me the exact same lines about how I could be making so much more money, doing so much better for myself, living so much larger, and so on. And I was like, “Huh? Who said I was looking for more money? I’m happy with the business I’m in!” I’ve never been someone who goes after money. That’s not me. Peace of mind comes first. So every time someone from Melaleuca called me and fed me those lines, I’d get turned off. And nobody ever called me twice. When Joan heard this, she said, “Well, that’s a great lesson! Lead with it!”
A: First, don’t doubt yourself. Second, ignore those voices in your head that tell you this is the end of the road. It’s just a speed bump. Don’t confuse it for a dead end. Third, stay focused. Me, personally, I never wavered. I’ve always known this is where I’m supposed to be. Finally, surround yourself with positive people who are making it happen. During that long stretch where I wasn’t advancing, I started meeting up with other successful leaders in Melaleuca to ask them questions: “What are you doing? How are you doing it?” I genuinely wanted to get better, and it paid off. Ultimately, I try to breathe inspiration into my team—to make sure they understand that the life they’ve always dreamed of is possible here. If you’re coachable and you follow my lead and execute what I teach you, you’ll have a great life. I’ve already done it—as have so many people before me—because they followed the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities here at Melaleuca. It’s a proven track record. Q: You’ve talked in the past about how you were almost debilitatingly shy growing up. Do you ever feel like that anymore? How do you combat it? A: I speak at just about every Convention, on that huge stage in front of thousands of people, and let me tell you, I’m a nervous wreck every single time. I don’t eat anything before I go on stage, no matter how late in the day it is. Honestly, I barely even drink water. The nerves are too much. I spend the whole day going over my notes, memorizing everything

I’m going to say, and getting into the zone—because once I’m out there, I don’t want anything holding me back. Q: There’s a certain ripple effect of energy throughout Melaleuca. It’s positive and infectious. It feels like thriving. Where does that come from? A: Early on, Eddie Bestoso asked me, “What’s your why ?” And he said, “It can’t be about money. It has to be something in your gut, something that gets you up in the morning.” Now, that question didn’t put me off because I’ve never particularly cared about being rich. I’m more focused on peace of mind and living debt-free. So I told him that. I told him that I knew that Melaleuca would give me that; and all these years later, it has. I’m 54 and my husband just turned 60, and we don’t have to work anymore. We’re set for life. But we love what we do and we have so much fun doing it, so why stop? We’re still out here saying, “Okay, who can we help next?” I think that’s the energy you’re talking about. Most of us truly, genuinely love what we do. I look back at my early days with the company, and in some ways it feels like we paved the road—driving everywhere for our appointments, sitting in people’s living rooms five or six nights a week, talking to five or ten people at a time. Now people can just walk to their laptop. It’s a different job. But the heart of it is the same: meeting people, building teams, and showing them how to create their own happiness.

That’s why it’s more important than ever that you reach out with the solutions that can only be found at Melaleuca. If social media and outward appearances were the only indicators, it would seem like most people are winning at life. But that’s just not the truth. Health and financial struggles are at record highs and are only getting worse. The fact is that more than 53% of Americans say that their financial situation worsened in 2023, and 78% have financial concerns as they start off 2024. 1 So why is everyone smiling in their social media posts? Two-thirds of Americans are trying to keep their financial struggles a secret, with 61% saying they are uncomfortable talking about their financial stress with others. 2

A CLOSER LOOK AT REALITY By understanding what those around you are dealing with, you’ll not only know how to better approach them about Melaleuca, but you’ll also understand how desperately they need the lifeline that only you can offer. While everyone’s situation is different, here’s a look at some of the startling statistics so many people are living with right now. HOUSEHOLD EXPENSES CONTINUE TO RISE According to a recent AP poll, 69% of Americans say their household expenses went up in 2023. 3 On average, the cost of typical necessities has gone up more than $700 per month compared to just two years ago. 4 The fact that the biggest price jumps are in items that people buy most often is making the financial pinch feel even more painful. Just one in three Americans are confident that their current financial situation will allow them to keep up with expenses! 3 Only 26% of Americans say they are confident in their ability to pay for an unexpected medical expense, and only 18% say they have enough money for retirement. 3
PUTTING MORE ON THE CARD As household expenses continue to rise while wages remain stagnant, more and more Americans are relying on credit to get by. But it’s coming at a tremendous cost. Credit card balances in the US now total more than $1.08 trillion—the highest level ever recorded! Over the past two years, the average credit card balance increased by a whopping 40%! 6 Nearly 80% of Americans say that their overall debt is higher or about the same as it was a year ago, meaning they are carrying a balance and paying high interest rates. The average credit card interest rate is now nearly 28%! 7 FINANCIAL STRUGGLES CAUSE PHYSICAL STRESS All that financial stress can add up to feelings of stress and anxiety. In fact, 77% of Americans are now reporting that they’ve lost sleep over money worries. 8 To learn more about how financial stress impacts physical health, see the article on page 68. A DIRE HEALTH PICTURE Wellness can’t be compartmentalized. When someone is struggling in one area of their life, that strife very often leads to problems in other areas. That helps explain why Americans’ health issues have gotten worse over the last few years. Increased stress over finances can make it harder to make and afford smart food and nutrition choices, and Americans are piling on the pounds as a result. Nearly 74% of Americans over the age of 20 are now overweight, with 41% qualifying as obese. 9 Obesity is one of the most visible ways the body manifests a whole host of underlying health conditions. It’s no wonder that obesity

is linked to rising medical expenses. According to estimates from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the annual medical cost of obesity was almost $173 billion in 2019. The obese spent $1,861 more per person in medical costs than those with healthy weight. 10 In addition, 80% of Americans are struggling with cardiovascular health! 11 The factors that contribute to good cardiovascular health include healthy cholesterol levels, healthy blood pressure, and healthy blood glucose levels as well as staying physically active, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining a healthy weight. Many Americans are working to improve one or several of these critical health factors. But only 20% of Americans are doing well in all of them! It’s no surprise then that cardiovascular disease affects nearly half of American adults and remains the number one killer! If that weren’t worrying enough, a recent study found that only 12% of American adults are metabolically healthy, even among those who are a normal weight. That’s significant because poor metabolic health leaves people more vulnerable to developing type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other serious health issues. 12 An alarming 60% of American adults are currently diagnosed with a preventable chronic disease, many of which are the direct result of poor nutrition, lack of physical activity, and behaviors such as tobacco and alcohol use. 13
An independent study based on 20 years of international data revealed that cleaning your home as little as once a week with national brand cleaners is as damaging over time to your lung capacity as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years! 14 According to Lung.org, researchers are finding that the cleaners that millions of people use in their homes can cause eye and throat irritation, headaches, and other health problems. “Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs),” warns Lung.org. “VOCs are chemicals that vaporize at room temperature.” 15

A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS In a recent poll, 90% of Americans reported that they believe the United States is experiencing a mental health crisis, with more than one in five adults describing their own mental health as only fair or poor. 16 Nearly one-third of all adults said they felt anxious often or always over the course of the past year, and about one in five adults said they were often or always depressed or lonely over the past year. 14 Loneliness is not a uniquely American experience. A survey found that nearly one in four adults around the globe have reported feeling fairly or very lonely, 17 but 36% of Americans have reported feeling “serious loneliness,” and that number is only projected to rise. 18 YOUR FRIENDS ARE DEPENDING ON YOU! Fully appreciating the dire nature of the circumstances we find ourselves in is important, but only focusing on the doom and gloom doesn’t help. The statistics can be shocking, but rather than feeling discouraged, you can help by sharing Melaleuca. Whenever the topic of health or finances come up, share a couple of these statistics. And don’t be afraid to start a conversation with one of these facts. After all, most people don’t want to admit that they are struggling. CORPORATE DIRECTORS 5 NEW ADVANCEMENTS
Brandon & Ashley Olive TEXAS The Home Team
20 MARCH 2024 | MELALEUCA.COM/LIA “Our strategy was to help Michelle share more on social media,” Ashley says. “But the Ashley Olive has used social media to great success throughout her Melaleuca career. But for a little over a year now, she has been helping present Melaleuca: An Overview in living rooms throughout the Olives’ close- knit Texas community. Building in person was new to Ashley, but she warmed up to it fast. That’s because one of her newly enrolled builders, Senior Director 6 Michelle Larsen, was well-known and well-loved in the community—but didn’t use social media.
goal was simply to generate more curiosity so she had more friends to invite to her in- homes. Michelle has built her Senior Director 6 business almost exclusively in kitchens and living rooms. She has shared Melaleuca, enrolled customers, and scheduled Strategy Sessions face-to-face, all while making Melaleuca products available for our guests to taste, touch, and smell.” Doing more in-homes in her community has brought some big changes into Ashley’s daily life—and the life of her family. She isn’t able to be home in the evening as often.
It’s an adjustment, especially with the kids’ busy schedules. But Brandon gives her his full support, and her kids are her biggest cheering squad. The Olives are a tight-knit
family, after all. They’re used to persevering through adversity.
“We have a saying in our family,” Ashley says. “‘We can do hard things.’ We have navigated probably eight broken bones between our three boys at this point! Every time, it takes rehab to get them back to playing baseball and all the other sports they love. Our daughter is a competitive all-star
Ashley is also employing a mentoring model that allows her to work closely with the new business builders that Michelle has enrolled. Michelle is doing the same—mentoring the enrollees of her own personally enrolled leaders. This model is being duplicated throughout Ashley’s organization. “Following this model has created a tidal wave of momentum,” Ashley says. “It has been so neat to dive into deep mentoring with these women, knowing I’m not just helping them, but helping my personally enrolled business partners as well! Following this model has definitely been one of the biggest forces behind this latest advancement.”
But the most powerful force of all has been simply building in her community. The women who are becoming Melaleuca Marketing Executives are the moms who Ashley sees every day at community events and baseball and cheerleading practice. They’re the people she gets to know on walks around the neighborhood. “My kids often ask me how their friends’ moms are doing,” Ashley laughs. “It just gives me such immense joy to share Melaleuca with the people I get to go through life with. Being able to meet in living rooms, hand out Melaleuca catalogs, let our guests sample Melaleuca products, and just sit and talk about what we love about this company has been so special and fulfilling. “If you’re having success building through social media, keep it up. But take every opportunity you can to build and work with your home team as well. It’s worth it—I promise!”
cheerleader, and even at her young age, she’s putting in lots of work to develop at a pace to allow her to make the next team. Brandon and I get to see them evolve as they work harder, whether it’s in sports or the classroom. They have grit. They’re so inspiring!” Lately, the senior Olives have really had to put their own grit on the line. As the pandemic wound down, they were finishing up some long-awaited improvements to their home and property. But instead of getting to enjoy those new features, they abruptly had to move out. Inspectors had discovered dangerous mold. Just like that, their dream home was uninhabitable. There was one bright spot: moving temporarily into another home helped their daughter quickly recover from some health issues she had been experiencing. Black mold had been the culprit! The Olives are still waiting for the mold problem to be sorted out; it has been very challenging for each of them. Ashley gets emotional just talking about it. “We just want to move back home,” she says. “No amount of money can make it happen any sooner. Recently, we learned that there were even more delays. I admit, that was one of the hardest days of my life.” Despite the uncertainty and the difficult wait, Ashley is going after some big goals for her business. “I’ve committed to developing six Directors and three Directors 3 this year,” she says. “It’s a stretch goal, but I really think I can do it. I’m telling a much more compelling Melaleuca story. Melaleuca has been such a great gift for me and my family! I love sharing my story. It’s something so many of my friends can relate to.”

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR 8 NEW ADVANCEMENTS
Jessi Harris ALBERTA A Mission-Driven Business
months after that, in April 2020, she advanced to Senior Director 2, and four months later she advanced to Executive Director. Today, Jessi’s sons are 19 and 21. Her football player is still playing (in the Canadian Junior Football League), and her youngest son is pursuing the culinary arts and his dream of becoming a chef. Jessi, meanwhile, has retired from being a nurse practitioner and enjoys visiting her boys and helping other families enjoy a great life through Melaleuca. While things have changed since those early days in 2018, Jessi has never lost her focus on the Seven Critical Business-Building Activities, which she calls “the only process proven to build a lasting business.” “Processes duplicate; people don’t,” she says. “And this is a business of duplication. My goal is to intentionally develop leaders who are intentionally developing leaders. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel. A recent example of this duplication happening in my business is advancing Executive Director 2 Jenna Trudeau, who helped Kayla Roberts quadruple advance to Senior Director 9. Kayla advanced because she helped Brette Olsen triple advance to Director 5. We are duplicating leadership.” At the end of the day, Jessi believes that building a Melaleuca business is about a lot more than a paycheck. “It’s about casting a vision, getting people started right, growing ourselves, improving our skills, and then using those skills to help others have a really great life,” she says. “I love the community we’re building, and I’ll never forget what a gift Seville and Rachaell, Jeff, and Melaleuca have given me. I look forward to advancing to Corporate Director one day soon and helping more families live a great life.”
When Corporate Director 3 Seville Ko approached Jessi Harris about Melaleuca, Jessi was a single mom with two sons who was, in her own words, “drowning in credit card debt.” She’d been praying for the means to pay the $500 fee for her son to play football when she got a call that led her to an Overview with Seville and the late Presidential Director Jeff Miller—a call that would change her life. “I just made a decision that I was going to burn the boats and figure this out,” she says. “My goal was Corporate Director from the beginning. Maybe I’m totally delusional, but I said, ‘If Jeff can do this, so can I.’ We tell ourselves stories all the time—usually negative ones. I thought, ‘Why don’t I just tell myself a great story and get to work?’” That’s exactly what she did. “I advanced to Pacesetter Director 5, where I stayed for quite a few months,” Jessi says. “After 17 months I advanced to Director 6 and had earned $22,000. Although it wasn’t exactly the start I had imagined, I knew where I was going because I was doing the right activities.” After a serious heart-to-heart with Seville, Jessi knew she had to step it up and become better to attract better business partners. Anthony & Breeana Gallegos NEW MEXICO One Question: How Much Do You Want to Achieve Your Dream Life?
Breeana’s first goal was to hit Senior Director and start taking advantage of the Car Bonus. This way, she could replace her aging, less-than-safe car that drove like it could permanently break down at any moment. “Driving the kids around in that thing was too stressful,” she says. Breeana’s next goal was to pay off all her credit card debt—a goal she hit last month! “It doesn’t even feel real, but my husband and I were able to pay off $23,000 in credit card debt in one sitting,” she says. “This month, I’m paying off the rest of our loans (amounting to $10,000), and then we won’t have any outstanding credit card or loan debt.” When Breeana first enrolled in Melaleuca, she never dreamed that her goals could be achieved so quickly. “This company has changed my life in every way,” she says. “I tell new members of my team this as well—that while you’re developing a business, you’re also developing who you are as a person. This is a marathon of self-improvement.” Part of that journey is becoming more resilient to rejection. “The yeses are going to build your business, but the noes are going to build you," Breanna shares. “Never take a no personally,” she says. “We have an amazing thing here, and the people who are meant to see that will be proud to join you on this journey.”
Executive Director 6 Breeana Gallegos had been a stay-at-home mom for 12 years when she found Melaleuca. At that time, the Gallegos family was finding that one income just wasn’t enough to sustain their growing family, so they relied on the kindness of Breeana’s grandparents for periodic essentials, such as groceries and school clothes. “I hate asking for money,” Breeana says. “I wanted to financially contribute, but my husband and I didn’t want to have to put our youngest kids in day care.” Melaleuca seemed like a great solution—but Breeana had no idea how beneficial building a wellness business would turn out to be. While Breeana had zero experience with a referral-based business, she was more than willing to learn from those with proven experience. “I was very, very coachable,” she says. “Right out of the gate, I decided I was going to be relentless in changing our lives. I leaned on my team, and I got really comfortable stepping out of my comfort zone to share Melaleuca with anyone and everyone.”

inclusive nature of Melaleuca. Unlike her past experiences, she sees Melaleuca as a stable platform for long-term growth, envisioning herself here for decades to come. Lisa’s conviction about Melaleuca has been reinforced by seeing the positive impact the business has had on those she worked with previously. “They never got what they deserved with our previous company,” she reflects, “But now, I’m glad to see them thriving with Melaleuca. Before, they’d work so hard and then have to do it all again the next month because all their customers would leave. It’s nice to finally see their hard work pay off.” Lisa advises new business builders to capitalize on the resources made available by Melaleuca. “I ask people to make a list of what they’re running low on in their house,” Lisa says. “Then I send a link to the Which Products & Services Do You Use? form to see what they could shop for at Melaleuca.” Consistency, above all, is key to Lisa. “I work like I could potentially enroll a million people,” she says. “But even if I don’t enroll any, I still put in the work because it always comes back full circle.” She advises those starting to build a Melaleuca business to maintain consistency, because she has found that doing so inevitably yields results.
When Lisa Fuller was first introduced to Melaleuca, she was wary of engaging in any kind of business building. “It took me eight months to decide to jump in,” she recalls. “But when I did, it finally just made sense.” She had previously worked in another industry for multiple companies where she felt integrity was consistently lacking. She grew tired of a culture where success seemed to be about buying one’s way up and having to constantly hustle to keep businesses afloat. Melaleuca offered Lisa a refreshing change. “Melaleuca is built on real people ordering real, usable products,” she emphasizes. “In my last company, it felt like I couldn’t distinguish between genuine customers and those possibly ordering on behalf of made-up people.” Lisa appreciates the transparency of Melaleuca’s business model, which allows her to be genuine with others and inspire authenticity within her team. Firm in her belief that Melaleuca offers opportunities for all, Lisa emphasizes that age and social status are not barriers to success. “With Melaleuca, it doesn’t matter if you’re 19 and on social media or 80 and don’t have any of that—you can build a business,” she asserts confidently. Lisa also highlights the

Tyler & Alex Hage CALIFORNIA A Family Business
Today, Alex’s kids have gotten to know many of those leaders. Alex encourages them to get involved. “They know exactly what Mommy does,” Alex says, “and they help with many different tasks. My daughter sends text messages for me. She writes thank-you cards. My son helps me create awesome videos. They could probably recognize all the top builders in my team by their voices!” Alex gives all of the credit to her husband, Tyler, for his unstinting support as she builds her Melaleuca business from home. He clears the way for her to focus on her team when she needs to—and helps the kids stay aware and involved. “He plays a huge role on top of a huge job,” she says. “His efforts make this a family business.” In fact, Tyler and the kids have been involved in the business ever since day one. “They’ve gotten to watch me start this since I had literally zero customers and zero experience in building a Melaleuca business,” Alex says. “They’ve been there for every step, every high, every low, every advancement. They’re always right there, cheering me on. We have a lot of fun! Melaleuca has changed all of our lives. We’ve all learned the power of hard work, sticking to it, and believing in yourself.” That’s why Alex and her Fast Track team members decided to go all in. Each wants to build a future of wellness for their family— and day by day, they’re helping each other reach their goals. JC
For Alex Hage, Melaleuca is very much a family matter. At the time of writing, Alex is expecting her fifth child! In fact, her baby is due right when the Paradisus Fast Track is scheduled to wrap up. “I told my team to get ready,” she laughs. “It will be a sprint to the finish!” Some months after Alex began sharing Melaleuca with others, she had an aha moment. “I had a day when I decided I wasn’t just going to talk about the products,” she says. “I was a little scared at the beginning to share the entire Melaleuca Overview. I was focused on enrolling new customers and didn’t want to scare them away by mentioning the business opportunity. But I realized that I couldn’t make that decision for them. They needed to decide for themselves whether they were a Category 1, 2, or 3. My job was to give them the information they needed. “Once I got into that mindset, I started developing Directors on a monthly basis. Now it’s something I train my team to do. Don’t prejudge! Just present the information with confidence and passion, then let the person decide.”

Jim & Deb Hoffmann NORTH CAROLINA The Power to Reshape the Future
Melaleuca’s laundry detergent with her 30 years prior. She loved it then, and when she learned that the company now offered more than 400 products, she was so excited. Deb purchased a Home Conversion Pack and switched everything in her home to Melaleuca products. But that wasn’t the only way Melaleuca changed her life. She began to wonder whether, at 60 years old, she could build a business too. As she began to share it with others, she started to realize Melaleuca’s potential to reshape the future for herself and others. “I don’t have that gene that you need to be able to sell things,” she says. “But I can sure tell someone about something I love that will help them. If you can share a restaurant you love, you can tell someone about Melaleuca.” Before Melaleuca, Deb had retired from a 35-year nursing career, then worked in a direct-marketing company while her husband owned a print shop. But in the years since her enrollment, Deb has built a Melaleuca business that yields a consistent income and is shoring up her retirement. While she’s grateful for what Melaleuca does for her, her greatest satisfaction comes in knowing that she can help others have time with their loved ones just as she has. “My why right now is helping people find their footing,” she says. “Melaleuca is for anybody, but it’s especially for that age group who are looking for something that will give them security in their future—that will give them complete time freedom to live how they want to live, especially in retirement.”
Deb Hoffmann and her husband, Jim, lived in Iowa near her parents and the family farm she grew up on until the fall of 2021 when they moved across the country to North Carolina. In 2023, Deb felt a pull to be near her parents again, who were now both in their 90s. It was at that point that her mother’s health began to fail. Deb traveled back to Iowa six times in nine months, supported her parents and siblings, and was at her mom’s bedside around the clock for her last five days on earth. “I had just returned from 10 days in Iowa when I got a call at 2:00 a.m.,” Deb remembers. “They told me that Mom had fallen and that, ‘If you want to see your mother again, you need to come right now.’ I was able to be there around the clock and spend quality time with her for the last week of her life. I could also help plan and pay for portions of her funeral. I had both the time flexibility and the finances because of Melaleuca.” Deb and her daughter, National Director 9 Makenzie Schultz, both started shopping with Melaleuca in August 2018. Deb recognized the company name from when a friend had shared
