12% OF AMERICAN ADULTS ARE METABOLICALLY HEALTHY! 74% OF AMERICAN ADULTS ARE OVERWEIGHT!
NATIONAL BRAND CLEANERS ARE CAUSING HEALTH PROBLEMS
is linked to rising medical expenses. According to estimates from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the annual medical cost of obesity was almost $173 billion in 2019. The obese spent $1,861 more per person in medical costs than those with healthy weight. 10 In addition, 80% of Americans are struggling with cardiovascular health! 11 The factors that contribute to good cardiovascular health include healthy cholesterol levels, healthy blood pressure, and healthy blood glucose levels as well as staying physically active, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining a healthy weight. Many Americans are working to improve one or several of these critical health factors. But only 20% of Americans are doing well in all of them! It’s no surprise then that cardiovascular disease affects nearly half of American adults and remains the number one killer! If that weren’t worrying enough, a recent study found that only 12% of American adults are metabolically healthy, even among those who are a normal weight. That’s significant because poor metabolic health leaves people more vulnerable to developing type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and other serious health issues. 12 An alarming 60% of American adults are currently diagnosed with a preventable chronic disease, many of which are the direct result of poor nutrition, lack of physical activity, and behaviors such as tobacco and alcohol use. 13
An independent study based on 20 years of international data revealed that cleaning your home as little as once a week with national brand cleaners is as damaging over time to your lung capacity as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years! 14 According to Lung.org, researchers are finding that the cleaners that millions of people use in their homes can cause eye and throat irritation, headaches, and other health problems. “Some products release dangerous chemicals, including volatile organic compounds (VOCs),” warns Lung.org. “VOCs are chemicals that vaporize at room temperature.” 15
