STYCCOBOND F46 Pressure Sensitive Vinyl Adhesive

FEATURES • True Pressure Sensitive properties - ideal for design floorcoverings • Infinite open time • Excellent tack • High bond strength • Excellent plasticiser resistance • Suitable with underfloor heating • Approved for marine use STANDARDS All aspects of the installation of floorcoverings should be in accordance with the requirements of the relevant British Standard Code of Practice i.e. BS 8203 (Installation of resilient floorcoverings) and supplementary specifications. Tested in accordance with IMO FTP Code procedures, STYCCOBOND F46 is in compliance with the Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2016, S.I. 2016/1025, and the Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU, and approved for use as an adhesive for flooring applications only.

INTRODUCTION STYCCOBOND F46 is a solvent free pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive that has an infinite open time, drying to a permanent tacky film and designed to give strong initial tack with high bond strengths and should be used for securing vinyl sheet and tile floorcoverings.

See the F. Ball Recommended Adhesives Guide for details of specific floorcoverings.

STYCCOBOND F46 can be applied to STOPGAP smoothing compounds, structurally sound, smooth, dry subfloors of concrete and sand/cement screed, calcium sulphate screeds, plywood, flooring grade chipboard and hardboard. Sound flooring grade asphalt must be skimmed with a minimum of 3mm of the appropriate STOPGAP smoothing compound. STYCCOBOND F46 can be applied directly to STOPGAP epoxy waterproof surface membranes and other non-absorbent subfloors where the surface finish is smooth enough to permit the installation of resilient floorcoverings. STYCCOBOND F46 is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations. For details on other subfloors, contact our Technical Service Department.

given below, place the floorcovering into the adhesive and press from the centre outwards to exclude any air; then roll from end to end and side to side using the 68kg flooring roller. 1 to 4 hours later roll again in two directions. Absorbent surfaces Apply the adhesive using a STYCCOBOND A2 or 1.5mm x 5mm ‘V’ notched trowel. Immediately roll with a paint roller which has been pre-coated with adhesive, to obtain a smooth, uniform appearance. This will minimise adhesive grin through and maximise surface area of contact for adhesion. Alternatively use the A1 trowel. Floorcoverings can be placed into the adhesive immediately although it is advisable, when installing tiles, to leave the adhesive for approximately 10 minutes before placing the flooring, reducing

STYCCOBOND F46 is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations. For details on other subfloors, contact our Technical Service Department. SURFACE PREPARATION Proper subfloor preparation is essential for the correct installation of any floorcovering. Subfloors must be structurally sound, smooth, dry (<75% RH) and free from laitance and any contaminants which will affect adhesion. Use STYCCOCLEAN C140 for removing grease, oil, polish, soap etc. from non-absorbent substrates. Concrete and sand/cement screeds must be fully cured and any laitance or surface treatments must be removed. The temperature of the floor must be maintained above 10°C throughout the application and drying of the adhesive. Underfloor heating must be off for at least 48 hours before, during and after application. For detailed information, request the F. Ball Subfloor Preparation Guide . DAMP SUBFLOORS The relative humidity (RH) of the subfloor can be measured using the F. Ball Digital Hygrometer. Where the RH value is greater than 75% the appropriate STOPGAP waterproof surface membrane should be applied. SMOOTHING To ensure a level surface on which to adhere to, uneven and irregular surfaces should be suitably prepared using the appropriate STOPGAP smoothing compounds. PRIMING Highly absorbent subfloors such as sand/ cement screeds and plywood etc. may cause high absorption of the adhesive. Use STOPGAP P131 diluted 4 parts of water and stir until thoroughly dispersed. This should be applied and allowed to dry thoroughly before proceeding with the installation. Dry and suitably prepared calcium sulphate screeds e.g. anhydrite must be primed with neat STOPGAP P121. ADHESIVE APPLICATION STIR WELL BEFORE USE Holding the trowel at an angle of 60°, spread the adhesive evenly over the subfloor. Following the floorcovering manufacturers laying instructions and using the guidelines

HEALTH & SAFETY This product is not classified. Relevant safety data sheets and advice given can be found at www.f-ball.com. Alternatively these can be obtained from the point of purchase or from F. Apply the adhesive as previously described but allow the adhesive to dry to a firm tack before laying the floorcovering. Roll tiles immediately after placement into the dry adhesive film using a 68kg flooring roller. Do not use the paint roller to extend the area covered by the adhesive, as this will reduce adhesion. Note: When trowelling the adhesive directly onto cured STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes, ensure that the membrane is not damaged or punctured by the trowel. PRECAUTIONS Follow floorcovering manufacturers guidance on acclimatising the flooring. Do not weld vinyl floorcoverings until the adhesive has had sufficient time to develop a good bond, normally 24 hours. Ensure floor smoothing compounds have dried sufficiently before applying the adhesive.
