Open Flare and Box Wrench Heads FAQ

A7. Yes, special requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact our engineering team to discuss feasibility and lead times.

Q8. What if a customer is requesting a torque beyond the published range?

A8: Like any other request outside of our catalog offerings, this will be treated as a special request to assess its feasibility.

Q9: Are the new wrench heads compatible with the TBX-12 model?

A9: Yes, the new wrench heads are compatible with the TBX-12 model thanks to the new threaded cam that accommodates both the old and new heads. However, please note the following:

● New heads are not backwards compatible with the old cam design. If you have an older TBX-12 model, it can be sent in for a cam replacement to ensure compatibility with the new heads. ● The new heads have a different working length compared to the existing TBX-12 heads. This should be considered when planning for your fastening applications. ● If you need to replace the cam to accept the new heads, please contact us for further assistance.

Q10. What should be done if the wrench does not maintain its torque setting?

A10. If a wrench is not maintaining its torque setting within the specified ±6% range, it should be recalibrated or inspected for wear and tear. Contact our support team for assistance.

Q11. Can the wrench heads be used in hazardous or critical environments?

A11: At Mountz, we are committed to continuous improvement—refining our tools to meet the evolving demands of advanced and critical manufacturing environments. That’s why we created the latest version of our stainless steel wrench heads. These heads are designed to perform reliably in critical environments where precision and consistency are essential. If you have specific requirements for highly controlled or sensitive applications, please contact us to discuss suitability or potential customizations.

Q12: When will all the heads be available on e-commerce?

A12: This is part of a rolling transition during the first half of 2025. As new heads are released, the new part numbers will become available on our e-commerce platform. The new head design is identifiable with the Mountz logo on the bottom section of the wrench head. The prior design does not have the Mountz logo on it.
