love pled for Lot’s deliverance from Sodom. The same way, Christian love helps sinners find salvation through repen- tance and faith in Jesus. True Christianity fills the life with purpose. It is productive and reproductive. It is a life of love, peace and joy. It looks for opportunities to show the love of Jesus. It is a life that speaks for God and righteous- ness. It is a sad commentary on democracy that we have a na- tion wallowing in the filth of immorality, and yet they call it liberty. There are national leaders that think they can control climate and the course of nature. God sees and un- derstands the folly of all the feverish efforts to prove there is no God. This is nothing new. Psalm 2, in the Bible, indicates that this is the way men act that do not believe in God. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed saying, ‘Let us break their bands asunder, and cast their cords from us.’ He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall He speak unto them in His wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure.” God is Sovereign! Open your heart to this truth and the truth of the Gospel and you
God is sovereign! What does that mean to you? American Heritage College Diction- ary: “Supremacy of authority or rule as ex- ercised by a sovereign or a sovereign state, complete independence and self-govern- ment.” God is sovereign and as a Sovereign, He is not dependent of anyone or anything. You can think whatever you decide to think about God but that does not change any- thing about God. He is not only sovereign, but He is also “Omniscient,” which means He knows everything about everyone and He knows what everyone thinks and does. As Sovereign He is “Omnipotent” and that means He is all-powerful and can do any- thing He chooses to do. God is also “Om- nipresent” which means He is everywhere present. It seems that many people today choose to believe that there is no God, even though we have Him showing Himself to be all of the above in the Bible. As we observe His care and movements in the universe, we also see His sovereignty and power. What you choose to believe about God does not change God at all, but what you believe does change you . Those who seri- ously believe what God has revealed about Himself in the Bible and in the universe de- velop a reverential fear and respect for God and what He teaches about Himself. This produces in them a conduct that is a glory to our God. Satan has succeeded in making many think that if there is a sovereign Cre- ator God, then He is not good because of all the evil and injustice everywhere present in the world. But those who choose to believe the Bible not only see the evil that God per- mits for a time, but they also see His re- straints and judgments upon sin and His great power He gives to believers to suffer and die for His truth. He gives power to be- lievers to love their enemies, to do good to those who hate them. This is what sets the true Christian apart from those who are hypocrites.
