Each note has a unique tone, now known as the Solfeggio frequencies. Some believe the vibrational signature of each frequency has specific healing properties. For example, the “mi” tone is 528 hertz and is commonly called “the miracle tone” due to the belief in its power to create peace and clarity. Solfeggio frequencies are prevalent among people who believe in chakras, akin to an energy ecosystem inside our bodies. Sound therapy often involves using these tones to positively influence chakras, meditate, treat physical and mental ailments, or restore a sense of calm. People who use the Solfeggio frequencies for wellness often use tuning forks to create them. Instruments like gongs, drums, or pan flutes are also popular. For the less musically inclined, you can find recordings of the different frequencies online and use them to get started.

We all know sound can affect our mood and well-being. A favorite song can energize us, white noise can soothe us, and an annoying sound can set us on edge. So, it’s unsurprising that some people have tried to harness the power sound has on our minds and bodies, with most taking their inspiration from a monk who lived in the Middle Ages. Guido of Arezzo lived in medieval Italy and taught monastic choirs. He created the music scale “ut re me fa sol la,” which became known as the Solfeggio scale and was the basis of many Gregorian chants.
