2025 Camp Life - Before You Go Guide

HEALTH CONCERNS

Lusaka has a relatively low risk for travel related infections in general, especially within Family Legacy’s accommodations. However, considering COVID-19 and traveling overseas, we encourage you to prepare prior to your travel to minimize the chances of getting sick while in Zambia. Refer below for a few health concerns to keep in mind as you prepare for your trip. DEHYDRATION | During the day, you will spend a lot of time outside in the sun at 4,000 feet above sea level. We suggest you drink plenty of water and bring Gatorade, Propel, or other hydration supplements. ASTHMA | Since it is dry season in Zambia, the dust can aggravate those with an extreme asthmatic condition. Therefore, we recommend that you bring allergy medication and/or an inhaler with you. ALLERGIES | If you have a peanut allergy, please be aware that peanut butter will be used in your villa to make sandwiches daily. We recommend that you closely monitor where you prepare your food and bring the appropriate medication/an epi pen if necessary. COVID-19 | Zambia has officially lifted all COVID-19 related restrictions for entry into the country. Neither vaccinated nor non-vaccinated travelers will need to present a COVID-19 test in order to travel to Lusaka. We encourage you to check the travel requirements for Zambia on the Emirates website frequently as you approach your Camp Life week.

EMERGENCY HEALTH CONCERNS

During your time at Camp Life, rest assured that your health needs are our number one priority and will be handled appropriately. Family Legacy’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Brad Guffey, has four board certifications and specializes in Infectious Diseases. He will be available to assess medical needs of participants if they should arise. In addition to Dr. Guffey, other qualified medical professionals and facilities are available in Lusaka.
