YOUR SMALL GROUP
You can expect 8 to 10 students in your Camp Life group. Students attending camp will consist of alumni-connected kids as well as unsponsored and sponsored students. Throughout the week, you will enjoy time with the children in your group in big group sessions, small group time, and individually. Big group session allows groups to gather together for singing and dancing as well as learning more about this year’s Camp Life theme. Small group sessions will let you expand upon the big group sessions with your individual groups.
BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
You will have one-on-one time with each child, referred to as a Blessing Time, which will give you an opportunity to get to know them better and pray with them.
We will equip you with a list of sample questions to help you with these special and important conversations. We encourage you to build deeper relationships with the children you meet, but it is important to keep in mind the challenging life experiences these children have already had. Many of these children have experienced varying forms of abuse or neglect that have affected their understanding of appropriate relationships, so please be mindful of this as you interact with them.
ZAMBIAN PARTNERS
We equip you with two Zambian partners who will serve alongside you the whole week. These partners will help you communicate with the children during small group sessions and Blessing Time. You will have the opportunity to spend some time with them on Sunday before your week of camp begins as well as each afternoon after your children leave. Your two Zambian partners will play an integral role in your overall experience, as you will be sharing very special and transformative moments together. To show your appreciation, we ask that you bring stationary to write each of your partners a heartfelt letter at the end of the week. Please refrain from giving any additional gifts or money to your partners, as this creates tension and jealousy among our partners.
