MISSION STATEMENT

OUR HISTORY

This livestock market started in 1946 as the Sugarcreek Livestock Auction, owned by a corporation of 10 stockholders. In 1947, the market set a record of total sales in the amount of $28,338. In 1970, the auction was purchased by William Osborne. A 1971 article by the New Phil- adelphia TIMES - REPORTER stated over 1,000 head of livestock were sold, with 300 to 500 people in attendance at the once monthly horse and livestock sale. The auction was purchased by Leroy H. Baker and Leroy “Butch” Baker Jr. in December 1985 wherein the auction grew to a twice weekly event. Sugarcreek Stockyards debuted in April 2020, under the guidance of Brady Baker. Brady served many years under the guidance of his father, “Butch” Baker, grandfather and many others within the livestock community and looks forward to enhancing the market for future generations. Brady and his wife, Nikki, along with their 2 children, enjoy supporting youth pursuing a future in agriculture as well as farming, raising feeder cattle and dairy replacement heifers.
