Metsä Board Achieves Platinum EcoVadis Rating

Ingersoll Paper Box Receives Women-Owned Accreditation

Norwalk, Connecticut based Metsä Board, the leading Eu- ropean producer of premium fresh fiber paperboards an- nounced its achievement of the highest Platinum level in EcoVadis’ sustainability assessment with a record score. The company has achieved this rating every year since 2017. Metsä Board received high scores in each of the four themes assessed, and with a total score of 91/100, is among the highest 1 percent of companies assessed in the cate- gory of paper, paperboard and packaging manufacturers. The overall score improved from the previous assess- ment (87/100) thanks to scoring higher (90/100) in the labor and human rights evaluation. In the environmental evaluation, the company scored 100/100 for the third year in a row. “Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of our strategy and day-to-day operations. We have actively developed our sustainability reporting and the EU’s Cor- porate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) guided the content and the structure of our Sustainability State- ment 2023. Transparent reporting makes our sustainability principles and actions publicly visible and contributes to success in trusted assessments such as the one done by EcoVadis,” said Metsä Board’s CEO Mika Joukio.

Ingersoll, Ontario based Ingersoll Paper Box Co. an- nounced they have achieved Women-Owned Certification in Canada from WBE Canada. “This accreditation is a testament to our com- mitment to diversity, equality and inclusion in the business community. Being recognized as a Wom- an Owned Business also enhances our visibility and credibility in the marketplace, opening doors to new partnerships and collaborations,” the company said. AF&PA Supports NY Legislature’s Decision To Shelve EPR Proposal The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) re- leased a statement after the New York State Legislature concluded its session without passing the Packaging Re- duction and Recycling Infrastructure Act. “While the AF&PA supports efforts to improve recycling, the legislation lacked provisions to ensure it would not negatively impact highly recycled materials like paper and paper-based packaging. We look forward to continuing discussions that ensure paper-based packaging recycling remains a viable and sustainable option for New Yorkers.”
