Carmen is a structural engineer at Tamarack Grove Engineering in Boise, Idaho. She has worked on a variety of projects from residential to commercial and has gained experience in working with materials such as timber, steel, and concrete. Her favorite part of the job is being able to collaborate with architects and contractors to achieve the goal of building a new structure. Carmen graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in Applied Mathematics in May of 2021. She has since earned her EIT and LEED Green Associate licenses. Carmen’s passion for structural engineering derived from her passion for building and designing sus- tainably and with the environment in mind. Outside of engineering, Carmen enjoys attempting to learn new songs on the piano and ukulele. She also loves spending time with her fur baby, Murphy, a three-legged rescue chihuahua. In addition, Carmen spends her free time teaching chess to stu- dents of all ages.
