What is the Minnesota 50/50? A) The Minnesota 50/50 is a membership-based group that allows current members to o Ư er prospects (weanlings or yearlings) through the annual MN 50/50 sale held with R&J Horse Sales Fall Sale. The sale graduates are then eligible to return to the show as 2 year olds to compete in the MN 50/50 2 year old futurity that consists of halter, western pleasure, and trail. Where does the 2 year old futurity payout come from? A) A portion of the sale price from each horse that sells through the MN 50/50 sale is withheld to cover operating costs of the show and to provide payout for the 2 year old futurity class. 50% of the sale price (with a maximum of $1,500 withheld) goes towards 2 year old futurity payout and operating expenses. Regular sale fees still apply; however, the MN 50/50 provides reimbursement of sale commission up to the $3,000 sale price. Visit www.mn5050.com for more information. Do I need to be a member to show at the futurity? A) No. Membership is not required to show at the futurity. Can horses other than 2 year olds show? A) YES! The MN 50/50 also o Ư ers Jackpot classes for yearlings, 2 year old walk trot, and maturity (horses 3 yrs and older). All horses that are futurity eligible can show in their respective jackpot class. The Jackpot classes are also open to all horses bred by current members. So even if your horse is not eligible for the 2 year old futurity, as long as they were bred by a current MN 50/50 member, they are eligible to show in the jackpot divisions.
