The 235th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Faculty Student Association was called to order in Moot Hall at 7:55 p.m.on October 5, 1970 by President Fretwell.

I Dr. Palmer MOVED, Dr. Bennett SECONDED: To approve the minutes of the Board of Directors meeting of June 17, 1970. Raimondi C. Ger:Oer III REPOR'l' FHDl1 Dr. Gittler reported that in his O!.)inion the FSA was in a sound EXBCUTIVE JJUSiness posture as of the beginning of the 1970-71 year. He DIRECTOR emphasize<:A, however, that tne auditors report sliowed a deficiency in cas}1 of $300,000. This defici·t places the FSA in a poor financial condition. It was also his belief that bankruptcy was averted due to the n~cessary economies a::,~roved by the Board of Directors and carried out with the full cooperation of students, staff and FSA employees. Dr. Gittler reported that the credit cards from Texaco, American oil and ESSO were cancelled in Sept. 1970. He further reported that the unauthorized charges alleged to have been made by Mr. David Ritchie have not been officially received from ESSO. Dr. Smith MOVED, Hr. Hain SECONDED: That the Board of Directors requests the President of FSA to initiate the necessary criminal and/or civil action in order to assure the FSA that the unauthorized purchases made by Mr. David Ritchie will be paid by Mr. Ritchie when the investigation is completed. CARRIED Mr. Glenn Nellis distributed a proposal for the use of nonies to help support a college newsletter to be distributed to students, faculty and alumni. A copy is attached to these minutes. Mr. Mr. Bennett MOVED, Mr. MacAdam SECONDED: To appropriate $2,000 from the Helen Shattuck Fund for the college student newsletter as proposed by Nr. Nellis. CARRIED Mr. Field NOVED, Dr. Palmer SECONDED: To irmnediately remove the $.10 check cashing charge imposed by the administration in order t~t this service will be provided without cost to faculty, staff and students. CARRIED
