WBS Athena Swan Gold Submission 2023

o Summarises the Dignity at Warwick policy [2017AP.Achieved 4.1.7]. o Directs students to resources within the University.

Further developing our practices, we ensure presentations at all open days and offer holder days refer to the school ’ s CORE values and EDI traditions. The core EDI team have worked with programme teams and attend these events. To encourage a sense of belonging and inclusion we have conducted work on student names . This was a central topic of the 2021 annual Teaching Forum - a schoolwide event themed around EDI that year. Following this event, our virtual learning environment now enables staff and students to select preferred pronouns, provide phonetic spellings, and supply cultural background. This signals the school’s values and attentiveness to diverse gender identities, with the aim of guiding classroom etiquette [2017AP.Achievement beyond 4.1.7]. Studying at WBS: embedding CORE values When students arrive our focus shifts to embedding our values in practice. Work here has expanded significantly since 2017. During induction students are introduced to resources available within the UoW, including Report and Support and Well-Being Services. Resources about mental health and wellbeing are presented that feature male role models, including the COO, Pro-Dean (Faculty) and Pro- Dean (External Relations). Students are introduced to the SEDIC, student networks, and university societies. PhD students receive an additional session, run by the chair and secretary of EDIC, to address complex scenarios relevant for interactions with supervisors, seminar tutees, and the academic community. The practical, moral, and legal problems arising from the scenarios are considered [2017AP.Achieved 3.2.2(f)]. We have increased our support for student networks and societies which help create a sense of belonging and professional identity. o Black in Business is a student created and led network that we support. In 2022 we launched a Black in Business scholarship for MBA study.

o Launched in 2021, the Rainbow Alliance is an LGBTQUA+ network provides regular community events, with a focus on improving awareness and building support.
