Principal Mechanical Engineer - UoM

We’re a proud Manchester institution and have ambitious plans for our future. At the heart of our vision are our people – a diverse, inclusive community of individuals who work together to create positive change for the world around them. Research and teaching are the foundation of what we do, but the University relies on a range of roles to help create the exceptional. If you think boldly, act with integrity and celebrate difference, then this could be the place for you. The University of Manchester continues to develop its extensive estate, and now requires a suitably talented and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to create a ‘best in class’ service across their portfolio. You will possess a proven track record in mechanical engineering management across a similar diverse multi-site estate portfolio. You will be a Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership, with extensive experience in the strategic maintenance of the full range of mechanical systems. The role would suit an individual with strong people management skills who is adept in motivating and empowering engineering professionals. Strong interpersonal skills are required as you’ll need to establish effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and be able to foster a culture of project delivery excellence across a large complex organisation. The role offers a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual to play a key part in the continuing and future success of the University and its wider role in the north-west region.
