4. Parking space and access aisle dimensions. a. ADA accessible parking spaces must be at least 96 inches wide , with an adjacent access aisle at least 60 inches wide . (1) Two adjacent spaces may share a common access aisle , except where parking is angled. b. Van Accessible Parking Spaces must be either: (1) At least 132 inches wide , with an adjacent access aisle at least 60 inches wide. (2) At least 96 inches wide with an adjacent access aisle at least 96-inches wide . c. Vertical Clearance for Van Accessible Parking Spaces. The parking space, access aisle, and vehicular route to and from a van-accessible space must have a vertical clearance of at least 98 inches . 5. Signs. Handicapped accessible parking spaces and van accessible spaces must be identified with signs as required by the Americans With Disabilities Act. a. Signs must be mounted so that the bottom edge of the sign is at least 60 inches above the ground surface. b. Where four or fewer parking spaces are provided on a site, a sign is not required to identify the single required accessible van space.

103 Queuing Lanes A. All drive-through facilities or facilities with drop-off/pick-up zones must have parking lots which incorporate queuing lanes adequate to prevent waiting cars from interfering with traffic flow in the vicinity. 1. QUEUING LANE: A paved area designed to accommodate vehicles waiting in line to use a drive-through facility or a drop-off/pick-up zone. 2. Measuring Queuing Lane Spaces. a. Each queuing space in a queuing lane must be at least 11 feet wide and 25 feet long . b. Measure the number of queuing spaces in a queuing lane as follows: (1) For facilities with service windows, measure back from the last service window in the queuing lane. (2) For car washes, measure back from the stop line in front of the car wash building. (3) For ATMs and access boxes, measure back from the ATM or access box itself. 3. Design of Queuing Lanes. a. Queuing lanes must be clearly marked, and must not interfere with on-site or off-site traffic circulation. b. Queuing lanes must not block access points, parking stalls, crosswalks or dumpster enclosures. c. Queuing lanes must be designed with an abutting bypass lane at least 11 feet wide. d. Required queuing lane spaces can be divided among multiple lanes.
