3. Collector Street Design Requirements. a. Collector Roadway Construction.
b. Required Right-of-way and Roadway Widths. (1) For local streets or loops over 1000 feet long: (a) Right-of-way must be at least 64 feet wide. (b) Roadway from back of curb to back of curb must be at least 35 feet wide. (2) For local loops more than 500 feet and less than 1000 feet long: (a) Right-of-way must be at least 60 feet wide. (b) Roadway from back of curb to back of curb must be at least 31 feet wide. (3) For local loops or cul-de-sacs 500 feet long or less: (a) Right-of-way must be at least 58 feet wide. (b) Roadway from back of curb to back of curb must be at least 29 feet wide. c. Drainage Improvements. Design drainage improvements accessory to local streets so that curbs will not be overtopped by the 2-year initial design storm. d. SIDEWALKS. Local through streets and loops must have a 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk along one side. (1) Sidewalks are not required along cul-de-sacs. e. Parking. Parking is permitted along both sides of local streets.
(1) Collector roadways must meet construction requirements as determined by the geotechnical report. (a) Class A collector roadways are typically constructed with 8 inches of asphaltic concrete pavement over a 6 inch rock base. (b) Class B collector roadways are typically constructed with 8 inches of asphaltic concrete pavement over a base of 6 inches of 95% compacted earth with fly ash stabilization. (2) Collector roadways must be constructed with standard type curb and gutter . b. Required Right-of-way and Roadway Widths. (1) Class A Collector Streets. (a) Right-of-way must be at least 70 feet wide. (b) Roadway from back of curb to back of curb must be at least 41 feet wide. (2) Class B Collector Streets. (a) Right-of-way must be at least 66 feet wide. (b) Roadway from back of curb to back of curb must be at least 37 feet wide. c. Drainage Improvements. Design drainage improvements accessory to collector streets so that at least one 8-foot lane width remains free of encroachment by the 5-year initial design storm. d. SIDEWALKS. Collector streets must have an 8-foot wide concrete sidewalk along one side. e. Parking. Parking is permitted along both sides of collector streets.
