ADULT CARE HOME: Any place or facility which provides care for adults who need help to compensate for limitations on activities of daily living, or who need supervision of or assistance with activities of daily living. 1. For definitions of classifications of Adult Care Homes, see K.S.A. 39-923. Classifications of adult care homes include: a. Nursing facilities. b. Nursing facilities for mental health. c. Intermediate care facilities for people with intellectual disability. d. Assisted living facilities. e. Residential health care facilities. f. Home plus. g. Boarding care home. h. Adult day care facility. 2. Adult care homes in Kansas must be licensed by the Kansas Secretary for Aging and Disability Services. AIRPORT: Any premises which are used, or intended for use, for the take-off and landing of aircraft, including appurtenant buildings and structures.

ALLEY: A minor right-of-way providing access to the rear or side of zoning lots in urban districts, not intended for through traffic.

ALTERATION: See STRUCTURAL ALTERATION. AMUSEMENT CENTER: An indoor commercial establishment offering 5 or more amusement devices for public use as the principal activity of the business. 1. AMUSEMENT DEVICES include computer video games, pinball machines, pool or billiard tables, foosball games and the like, but do not include recreational uses such as bowling, skating rinks or miniature golf. ANIMAL HOSPITAL OR CLINIC: An establishment where animals are admitted principally for examination, treatment or care by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Animals may also be boarded, but this definition does not include open kennels or runs unless specifically permitted by zoning district regulations.
