LAND PLANNER: A professional architect, engineer, landscape architect or professional surveyor licensed by the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions to practice in the State of Kansas. LANDSCAPE: All those parts of a property which are outside of the principal buildings. LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT: A landscape architect licensed by the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions to practice in the State of Kansas (See LAND PLANNER. LANDSCAPE MATERIALS: Landscape materials are not limited to, but may include: 1. Living plants, such as trees, shrubs, groundcovers, perennials, annuals, vines, ornamental grasses, turfgrass; 2. Earth forms , such as berms, terraces; 3. Decorative stone , such as rocks, boulders, or artificial rockwork closely resembling natural stone (shotcrete, gunite); 4. Mulch , such as wood chips, recycled rubber mulch, gravel, stones; 5. Paving , such as brick, stone, concrete paver units, or similar materials (monolithic paving, such as asphalt or concrete slab, is not included); 6. Structural or ornamental features , such as fences, walls, arbors, gazebos, trellises; 7. Furnishings designed for use outdoors, such as tables, chairs, benches, hammocks; 8. Water features , such as fountains, ponds, swimming pools; 9. Fire features , such as fireplaces, fire pits, fire pots; 10. Lighting and light fixtures ; 11. Art pieces , such as sculptures, murals, decorative screens.
LANDSCAPING: Enhancing the function and visual character of a landscape by carefully planning and installing landscape materials. 1. Landscaping may achieve multiple goals, including providing shade, modifying temperature extremes, framing views, softening the impact of building masses, defining separate functional spaces, and in general presenting a pleasing visual effect on the premises. LAWN: An area of land covered in turf which is regularly mowed to a short height. (See TURF.) LIGHT CUTOFF ANGLE: The angle between a line extending vertically downward from the center of a luminaire, and the maximum range of incident illumination at the ground plane.

LIVE-WORK UNIT: A dwelling unit or sleeping unit in which at least 10% of the space is used by the tenant to operate a business. LOCAL STREET: See STREET/LOCAL STREET.
