SHADE TREE: Usually a deciduous tree, planted primarily for its high crown of foliage or overhead tree canopy. 1. For purposes of administering these regulations, trees listed in the Kansas Urban Forestry Council's publication " Preferred Tree Species for South Central Kansas " as medium, large, or very large deciduous trees will be classified as shade trees. SHED, STORAGE: See STORAGE SHED. SHIPPING CONTAINER BUILDING: A residential, commercial or industrial building constructed of standardized reusable containers that were originally designed to hold freight while being transported by rail, truck or ship.   SHORT TERM RENTAL: A dwelling unit, portion of a dwelling unit, or a sleeping unit, which is within a SINGLE-FAMILY, SINGLE- FAMILY ATTACHED, or TWO-FAMILY DWELLING, and which is rented or leased for transient or temporary occupancy, for no more than 30 consecutive days per renter. (See Zoning Regulations, Section 6-101B1g for parking requirements.)  SHRUB: A deciduous or evergreen woody plant smaller than an ornamental tree, consisting of multiple stems from the ground or small branches near the ground, which attains a height of 24 inches or more. SIDEWALK: A paved surface in a street right-of-way, in the area between the roadway back of curb and the right-of-way line, intended primarily for pedestrian use. SITE BREAK: A structural or landscape element intended to interrupt long vistas, and create visual interest in a site development. SITE SPECIFIC: Plant material chosen to be particularly well-suited to withstand the physical growing conditions (including light, soil, and water) which are normal for the location. SKETCH PLAN: See PLAT/SKETCH PLAN. SKILLED NURSING CARE FACILITY: A health-care institution that meets federal criteria for Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement for nursing care, including physician supervision of each patient's care, employment of at least one full-time registered nurse, nursing care available 24 hours a day, facilities for storing and dispensing drugs present, records maintained on each patient's care and condition, a utilization review plan implemented, and overall financial planning. SLEEPING UNIT: A single unit providing rooms or spaces for one or more persons, which are not part of a dwelling unit, and which can include permanent provisions for living, eating, and sleeping, and either sanitation or kitchen facilities but not both. Examples include suites in dormitories or assisted living facilities. (See DWELLING UNIT.)
