3. Required Trees & Plants a. Calculate 3 shade trees for every 1000 SF of required street yard landscape area , then round up to the nearest whole number of trees. • 2 ornamental trees may be substituted for 1 shade tree • Shrubs at least 2 feet in height at maturity may be substituted for up to 1/3 of the required trees, at the rate of 10 shrubs for 1 required shade tree or 5 shrubs for 1 ornamental tree . (Shrubs required for parking lot screening may not be counted as substitute shrubs) b. Required trees may be clustered rather than spaced evenly c. Maintain adequate distance between individual trees: • Shade trees — minimum 25' apart • Ornamental trees — minimum 15' apart d. Locate trees in planters big enough to accommodate growth & protect trees from vehicle damage (A minimum of 25 SF of permeable ground surface area per tree is recommended) e. Do not locate required trees or shrubs in adjacent public rights-of-way, unless no conflicts exist with utilities, and plant locations are approved by the Zoning Administrator

f. Never locate conifer trees in public rights-of-way 4. Visibility Standards for Landscaped Street Yards a. Meet Vision Triangle requirements

• Shrubs 33" maximum in height within V ision Triangle • Shrubs, walls and fences ≥ 25% opaque must be ≤ 3' above finished grade within Vehicle Access Vision Triangle
