La imagen principal de los edificios, en la Isla Teja y en la mayoría de los campus de la universidad, es de circulaciones techadas. Antes que los edificios en sí se ven estos techos. Circula por ellos y muchas veces entra a los edificios sin apreciarlos porque la única perspectiva es la de la cubierta. Entonces, ¿cómo hacer de esta imagen la imagen de un edificio? Se tomó la imagen del techo y se creó una plaza techada, llamada Plaza de las Ideas, hacia la calle principal. De esta forma, el techo ya no es aquel pasillo con estructura de acero y fibrocemento, sino un lugar de encuentro cubierto y protegido del viento. Junto a esta se instaló el Pabellón de los Estudiantes, conectado y en el mismo nivel que la plaza. El Edificio de Investigación, retirado de la calle principal, permite mantener la escala de los edificios existentes y crear una imagen que se verá desde el río. Con la futura ubicación de los estacionamientos, todo aquel que llegue en auto al campus cruzará por este edificio, transformándose así en un nuevo pórtico de entrada. The fundamental image of the buildings in Teja Island and in most of the college campuses is of roofed circulations. These roofs are seen before the buildings themselves. People walk through them and often enter without appreciating the buildings since the only perspective is that of the roof. So, how to turn this into the image of a building? This image of this roof was used to create a covered plaza, called Plaza de Las Ideas , Square of the Ideas, towards the main street. Thus, the roof is no longer the corridor structured in steel and fiber cement panels, but a covered meeting place, sheltered from the wind. Alongside sits the Student Pavilion, with a direct connection and on the same level as the plaza. The Research Building, off the main street, follows the scale of existing buildings and creates an image that will be seen from across the river. With the future location of parking, everybody coming to the campus by car will cross this building, thus becoming a new entrance portico.
