IN THIS UPDATE
quantify, and sometimes limit, expres- sions of generosity to schools to dollars raised. I do believe, though, that there is an equally powerful and often overlooked level of generosity given to schools in the form of volunteerism. Simply put, Cathedral School could not function at the level it does without the countless volunteer hours from those in our community. Often, our childrens’ role models are public figures, who frequent the cover of magazines and who are quick to call attention to themselves. Less obvious, though more influential, are those who commit themselves to the organizations and causes that they believe in. This work fails to garner the credit it deserves. Yet, it is only through this authentic service that organizations thrive. Our sons see our good work, whether we know it or not, and will emulate it in their own lives.
In this particular year, parents, board members, alumni, and staff have committed thousands of hours to preparing Cathedral School to open this fall. The reality of having all boys back on campus could not have happened without these volunteers. This publication takes great pains to call attention to the hundreds of people who committed financially to Cathedral School. Their support makes this place the nationally recognized school that it is. So too, though, do the volunteers working behind the scenes on behalf of this special place. They, too, deserve our

of education for boys comes from the examples set by the adults around them. Our School remains committed to educating young men ready and eager to make the world a better place. Their commitment to service and volunteerism is learned, in large measure, by the work that the adults around them conduct on behalf of Cathedral School. This has always been the case, and it has never been more evident than in this particular year of upheaval. Never has Cathedral School needed nor benefited more from the commitment that so many people have made to this special place. Oftentimes we can be quick to
