As you start your descent over the crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches, you know you’ve arrived at Fort Lauderdale, FL, destination for the 48th Annual NADOA Institute ! The Marriott Harbor Resort and Spa is only 10 minutes from Hollywood airport unless you hit that pesky draw bridge at a quarter past or to the hour; it may take a few minutes longer. We had to make a few adjustments this year due to the strain COVID put on our industry but we have 3 busy days of EDUCATION, FOOD, PRIZES and a little HULA & MOONWALK . As always, we’ll have greeters to meet you as you arrive and show you where to go. The Program Committee has worked to be sure that you, our members, receive the best education, most relevant to our industry and what will help you in your future. This year all classes and General Sessions are on the 3rd floor where the GRAND BALLROOM is located. As we always tell you, we all have different body temperatures, so be sure to PACK A SWEATER OR LIGHT JACKET . The Hotel Committee has done a wonderful job picking out some delicious food for our meals and breaks. I wouldn’t want to miss any, if I were you. Hospitality has planned TWO fun events; Wednesday’s Welcome Reception is a LUAU theme, so make sure you pack your Hawaiian shirt or outfit. Thursday night, we’re headed back to the 80’s DUDE !! There will be an AWESOME prize for the best costume besides great food, music and other events. You don’t want to miss out on this year’s Institute, now go log on to the NADOA website to REGISTER
and make your HOTEL RESERVATIONS . Room rates are $199 a night. That rate is good 3 days post should you want to have a little vacation time afterwards. The deadline to register or make hotel reservations is AUGUST 10, 2021 Be sure to check out the rest of the Magazine as all of the Committees have been hard at work and have provided you with EXCELLENT information. We look forward to seeing each of you in SEPTEMBER .

Planes, Trains and Automobiles…getting to and around Fort Lauderdale for Institute
Whatever mode of transportation you take, getting to Institute will be a breeze.
Flying has never been cheaper. If you haven’t booked your flight, start watching - use the Hopper app or any of the other Fare Finders such as Priceline or Expedia. FLL is the acronym for the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.
Especially for those who want to travel from the East Coast, Amtrak has a direct line from the Washington DC area to Fort Lauderdale on the Silver Meteor. There are stops along with way through Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia for those that live in these areas to hop onboard! This is their 50th anniversary and they are making deals on travel.
Federal law still requires that face masks be worn on planes, at the airport, on trains, in the station, and the rental car center.
If you are driving to Institute, parking at the hotel is $39/day for self-park (with in/out privileges) or $48/day for valet parking. Rental cars are available at the airport’s Rental Car Center located directly across from Terminal 1. If you are traveling to the airport and want to take an Uber, use UberX if you are traveling with at least one other person. The individual fare is $12.83 at this time, but if you have more than one person, UberX is $15.85 for the entire ride (split among the passengers). At this time, all of the passengers must sit in the back seat, so
you are likely to be able to fit a max of 3 passengers. Uber Pool is not available at this time. Lyft XL is similar. Lyft XL will fit up to five passengers and the fare is $25-$30 for the entire ride, split among the passengers. The individual fare is $15-$18. All passengers must wear a mask when riding with both companies . Yellow Cab also offers service between the airport and the resort for approximately $18-$21. Want to take some time and look around Fort Lauderdale? May we suggest three alternatives to Uber and Lyft. Try calling Beachhopper Tours. Shuttles are available on the half hour or hour to go to and from local hotspots. The carts hold up to 10 guests. The Fort Lauderdale Sun Trolley (Community Shuttle) is free to ride. There are five routes but the two we suggest are the Beach Link that runs from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and the Las Olas Link ( shopping!! ) that runs from 12:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. One of the best ways to experience Fort Lauderdale is the Water Taxi. Tickets are $28/person and it has hop on/hop off privileges. There are 165 miles of waterways that take you to ritzy neighborhoods, fine dining, shopping, beaches, gardens, museums, and historical places.
If you have any questions about travel to, from, or in Fort Lauderdale email me at sbradley@vefinc.com and I will do my best to assist you. Hope to see you in beautiful Fort Lauderdale in a few months!

INVITING
Competition, both held at the basketball court, then head to the hotel lobby for free local craft beer tasting. Kids are sure to enjoy water games, a scavenger hunt, and a balloon artist. Wind down with the kids at the lagoon pool each night with a “Dive-In” movie. Join the NADOA family Saturday (Sept 11) on the beach for sandcastle building, kite flying, scavenger hunt and/or sand casting. A special surprise will be provided to those bringing children to join them for the weekend, so be sure and let us know to be included. With enough interest, NADOA will add to the fun with family, couples, or individual pictures on the beach on Friday evening (Sept 10). Due to time constraints a maximum amount of shots (approx. 5-8 per group) will be taken, so no outfit changes or individual poses for each member of the group will be taken. If interested, please send an email to Lisa Buffaloe at buffaloegal@yahoo. com for appointment time. Hope to see you all in Fort Lauderdale! Still thinking about it? Here are a few more thoughts to ponder!
NADOA rates are $199 a night for three (3) days prior and three (3) days post Institute, being September 3-12 (reservations must be made only through the NADOA link found on the website to obtain this rate). What a great time to have a family and friends’ vacation. Come early to spend time with family and friends before summer ends! Grab a bunch of girlfriends and stay for a weekend girl’s trip! There is so much to do right there at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. By paying an optional $35 resort fee, you have free access to beach/ pool lounge chairs, towels, and all non-motorized water sports. Splurge a little and book a fishing trip or rent a catamaran and sail away or rent a cabana for $150 a day and enjoy the sounds of the surf with a good book while drinks are served right there on the beach. If you’re feeling a little romantic, book a couple’s massage followed by an intimate Sand Dinner, a little music at the lounge and an early night with your significant other on the balcony overlooking the beach (bottle of wine, nice cigar, … you get the picture)! Bring the family as the hotel offers Daily Resort Activities for all ages. Beach yoga every morning at 8am and even a full fitness gym for those die-hards who don’t miss a workout. Need more cardio? How about a Basketball Sharp- Shooter Competition or Long-Range Corn Hole

COVID CORNER Taking care of you is the number one priority, so you can focus on what's most important to you. As part of Marriott International's family of brands, they have implemented a variety of new protocols and elevated practices, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and keeping with their high standards of cleanliness and commitment to providing excellent service.
In keeping with Marriott's Commitment to Clean, they’ve made several enhancements to the cleaning practices throughout the property and in guest rooms. These include: Enhanced Public Space Cleaning: Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection, particularly in areas with high traffic including restrooms, elevators, and escalators as well as provided more hand sanitizing stations. Enhanced Guest Room Cleaning: Increased in-room cleaning, especially all high touch point areas. Note: daily housekeeping service for stays of two nights or less has been eliminated, however service can be provided upon request while guest is not in the room. Automatic room cleaning is made every 6th day for those staying longer. Additional towels and supplies can be requested and will be delivered to the room. Staff members will wear personal protective equipment (e.g., face coverings, gloves, etc.) based on the activities they are performing and based on direction by the local authorities.
A few adjustments have been made to the services, amenities, and facilities available during your stay.
Here is what to expect during your stay at Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa. Providing a safer environment for guests and associates is a top priority. Consistent with the most recent CDC guidance, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to wear face coverings or social distance in indoor or outdoor areas of the hotel, unless required by local law. We ask that unvaccinated guests continue to wear face coverings and practice social distancing when they are in public spaces inside the hotel. Social distancing and contactless experience have been implemented by: • Plexiglas partitions at our front desk as well as mobile check-in and mobile key are offered. • Service requests via the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app. • QR code offered for menu and dining options. • Valet and self-parking options are available.
All non-essential paper products (i.e. magazines) have been removed from rooms.
