Planes, Trains and Automobiles…getting to and around Fort Lauderdale for Institute
Whatever mode of transportation you take, getting to Institute will be a breeze.
Flying has never been cheaper. If you haven’t booked your flight, start watching - use the Hopper app or any of the other Fare Finders such as Priceline or Expedia. FLL is the acronym for the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.
Especially for those who want to travel from the East Coast, Amtrak has a direct line from the Washington DC area to Fort Lauderdale on the Silver Meteor. There are stops along with way through Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia for those that live in these areas to hop onboard! This is their 50th anniversary and they are making deals on travel.
Federal law still requires that face masks be worn on planes, at the airport, on trains, in the station, and the rental car center.
If you are driving to Institute, parking at the hotel is $39/day for self-park (with in/out privileges) or $48/day for valet parking. Rental cars are available at the airport’s Rental Car Center located directly across from Terminal 1. If you are traveling to the airport and want to take an Uber, use UberX if you are traveling with at least one other person. The individual fare is $12.83 at this time, but if you have more than one person, UberX is $15.85 for the entire ride (split among the passengers). At this time, all of the passengers must sit in the back seat, so
you are likely to be able to fit a max of 3 passengers. Uber Pool is not available at this time. Lyft XL is similar. Lyft XL will fit up to five passengers and the fare is $25-$30 for the entire ride, split among the passengers. The individual fare is $15-$18. All passengers must wear a mask when riding with both companies . Yellow Cab also offers service between the airport and the resort for approximately $18-$21. Want to take some time and look around Fort Lauderdale? May we suggest three alternatives to Uber and Lyft. Try calling Beachhopper Tours. Shuttles are available on the half hour or hour to go to and from local hotspots. The carts hold up to 10 guests. The Fort Lauderdale Sun Trolley (Community Shuttle) is free to ride. There are five routes but the two we suggest are the Beach Link that runs from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and the Las Olas Link ( shopping!! ) that runs from 12:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday. One of the best ways to experience Fort Lauderdale is the Water Taxi. Tickets are $28/person and it has hop on/hop off privileges. There are 165 miles of waterways that take you to ritzy neighborhoods, fine dining, shopping, beaches, gardens, museums, and historical places.
