Honouring Service New hub opens for Telford’s Armed Forces community
Dedicated support The hub offers a drop-in service with access to advice, support, and a welcoming social space to meet others with shared experiences. It also hosts fortnightly Community Cafés, provides IT and digital training, help with everyday tasks, activity programmes, and hardship support. This initiative is a partnership between Telford & Wrekin Council, Great Dawley Town Council and Telford Mind, and is part of a wider outreach programme developed to support the Armed Forces community across the borough. Named in honour of Councillor Chris Turley – a passionate advocate for veterans and a long-serving public servant – the hub reflects his legacy and commitment to those who serve.
A new dedicated hub for the Armed Forces community has opened at Dawley House on Burton Street, Dawley. The Christopher Turley Armed Forces Community Hub welcomes everyone with a military connection – from serving personnel and veterans to reservists and family members.
“The new Christopher Turley Armed Force Community Hub offers a whole range of support and advice from the Council and our partners, accessible under one roof so people know where to go. Chris Turley
was a remarkable man, a dedicated councillor and tireless advocate for veterans and their families, so it is an honour to name this vital Armed Forces community hub in his honour.”
Councillor Paul Davis Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Communities and Civic Pride
