Looking after our health isn’t always simple and talking about it can be even harder. But a new campaign called ‘Healthy Conversations’ is all about making it easier to speak up about health concerns, whether it’s with a friend, a colleague, or a trusted professional.

The idea is simple. When we talk, we make better choices. And when those conversations happen in safe, everyday spaces, they can help break down the fear or embarrassment that often stops people from seeking support. The first subject up for discussion is flu vaccinations. Despite being free for many, uptake is still low in some groups. Healthy Conversations aims to change that by helping people understand why the flu jab matters – not just for people’s own wellbeing, but for the health of those around them too. By opening these conversations, the campaign hopes to build a healthier, more

connected community – one chat at a time. The campaign also highlights the importance of everyone taking responsibility – asking people to consider not just their own health, but of those around them. Whether it’s a colleague with a chronic condition or a neighbour undergoing treatment, small actions like getting vaccinated can make a big difference. The Council is urging everyone in Telford and Wrekin to take the first step: start a healthy conversation with a professional today. Whether it’s about flu, mental health, or lifestyle changes, talking is the beginning of living well.

“Flu can be serious, especially for vulnerable people and vulnerability isn’t always visible. By having a conversation, we can help each

other make informed decisions and reduce pressure on our local GPs and NHS services.” Councillor Kelly Middleton Telford & Wrekin Council Cabinet Member for Public Health and Healthier Communities

Healthy Conversations is a campaign launched by Telford & Wrekin Council, working with the Telford and Wrekin Integrated Place Partnership Board. For more information visit www.nhs.uk/Vaccinations/Flu-Vaccine
