Totally Telford Magazine I E9 - Autumn 2025

Real families, real fun

At the heart of the campaign were six young storytellers who served as ambassadors for Telford.. Their unscripted voices spoke of climbing hills, exploring museums, and discovering new places. With support from local attractions and businesses, Visit Telford captured striking photography and content from climbing The Wrekin to stepping back in time at Blists Hill Victorian Town. As a result, a set of powerful, people-first visuals that have resonated with audiences locally and nationally. The campaign was rolled out on the Visit Telford website, social media channels, and across out of home adverts and digital screens all over the West Midlands. Looking ahead to autumn and winter with highlights including Christmas in Southwater and the Polar Express at Telford Steam Railway this inclusive approach will continue to shape future campaigns.

at heart of new national Visit Telford tourism campaign

This summer, Visit Telford the official destination management organisation for the Borough administered by the Council launched a bold seasonal campaign that places local people at the heart of its storytelling. The ‘Summer of fun’ campaign invited audiences to experience Telford through the eyes of its youngest residents. Narrated and animated by local children, it celebrates the Borough as a brilliant place to live, visit, and explore highlighting everything from great days out to memorable short breaks. Rather than using stock imagery or professional models, the Council’s tourism team cast real Telford families in a vibrant series of promotional content. This people-first approach ensures the campaign felt authentic and rooted in community showcasing Telford and Wrekin as a destination full of imagination, heritage, and heart.

Playful, polished, and proudly local Launched ahead of the summer holidays, the campaign invited families to ‘rule their summer’ in Telford, a place where every visitor could become the king, queen, or ruler of their own adventure. From ‘Queen of the Jungle’ at Exotic Zoo to ‘King of the Course’ at Telford Town Park’s mini golf, and ‘Ruler of the River’ paddleboarding through Ironbridge Gorge, the campaign spotlighted the Borough’s most beloved attractions in a playful and accessible way. The creative approach balanced high- quality production with the raw charm of local voices. Visuals, animations, and messaging were designed to feel fresh and fun, while still reflecting the professionalism and ambition of the Borough’s tourism strategy.

“Telford’s greatest strength is its people. This campaign shows real stories and smiling faces, helping our community take pride in where they live.”
