INTERNATIONAL AMBASSADORS
The meeting itself was about Global Citizenship, in our words, it was what we would call the combined aspects of Sustainability, Cultural Festivals and Social Justice. The most interesting DC Shanghai topics relating to Global Citizenship were, raising money for a young girl from rural China to attend their school for a short while for ‘Christmas Jingles’. Studying Cultural Festivals like Day of the Dead, Diwali and Qingming festival. Each class spent time learning about different types of Global Energy and completed a project on it. We discussed elements of our co-curricular, such as free learning weeks where we celebrate Black History Month, Neurodiversity Week, Pride and even more. We also spoke about the Great Exhibition for Year 6, our residential trips and Forest School.
n This year the International Ambassadors met with our counterparts at the other DCI schools over a number of occasions. With the aim of collaboration and partnership we shared our experiences of our schools and brought us together. In the Michaelmas term, we exchanged a padlet with DC Singapore where the children shared questions and answers. They asked each other questions about the speakers we have, what sort of leadership positions the children can hold, the languages we learn, the weather, pollution, how do we get to school, our clubs, productions, favourite foods and sports. In the summer term, the group met online with the student leadership team from DC Shanghai. Due to the time difference, we needed to make sure it took place during DC Shanghai’s school time, so we had to arrive at school, ready for 8am! Some boys arrived a little later, but that didn’t stop us all contributing hugely.
