Update to June Employer Bulletin 25 June 2021
An update has been made to the recently published June Employer Bulletin, released by HMRC. Additional information has been added in relation to the UK Transition.
Deadline for the EU Settlement Scheme – 30 June 2021
Any EU, EEA, or Swiss citizens, along with their family members, who lived in the UK by 31 December 2020 need to ensure that they apply to the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) by no later than 30 June 2021. This is to ensure that they can continue living and working within the UK.
Any individuals that this affects should ensure that they apply online on or before the deadline date.
Current right to work processes will not change until after 30 June 2021, and organisations are reminded that they must be careful not to discriminate against EU, EEA and Swiss citizens who use their passport or national identity card as proof of their right to work until that point. Additionally, organisations will not be required to perform retrospective right to work checks for existing employees.
Guidance on right to work checks has been updated to provide detail on what will happen from 1 July 2021 onwards.
Applications to the Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) Brexit Support Fund
Smaller businesses may be eligible for grants of up to £2,000, which will help them to adjust to the new customs and tax rules that apply to trading with the EU.
Any small and medium sized businesses that trade exclusively with the EU, meaning they are new to import and export processes, are advised to apply for these grants prior to the closure of the scheme on 30 June 2021.
More information on applying for a grant is available online.
