NEST request your help to develop their scheme administration service 21 December 2021
NEST would like to speak to employers with over 250 employees for user research and testing work. They would like to speak to the individuals who “do the work” using the NEST system currently. The sessions are planned to commence in January, dates are yet to be confirmed, and each session should last about an hour, then further testing in February and March. Volunteers do not need to commit to specific dates, just that they agree to be contacted once the dates are confirmed, they can then choose to support or not on each occasion. If you are happy for the CIPP to pass on your details to NEST and be involved in this process, please contact us at policy@cipp.org.uk.

Digital identity document validation technology to be opened to employers for right to work and pre-employment DBS checks. 24 December 2021 The Home Office and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) are working together with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to develop legislation that will allow employers and landlords the ability to perform digital identity checks. This will allow them to use certified Identification Document Validation Technology (IDVT) service providers to perform Right to Work, Right to Rent and DBS pre-employment checks. This will ensure secure and trustworthy checks can be done for those outside of the scope to use the Home Office online services, this includes British and Irish citizens. Private sector IDVT service providers will be required to get accreditation from the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS). The UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework will open up in January 2022 for providers to gain certification. This new service should support the Home Office in delivering secure and accurate Right to Work checks, while also accommodating for the shift into hybrid and remote working systems that many companies are adopting.
