30 September 2021 – closure of the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme 30 September 2021
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), introduced back in March 2020 as coronavirus initially prompted lockdown in the UK, will close on 30 September 2021.
Employers with staff that are still on furlough will need to make the decision to either:
• Bring employees back to work on their agreed terms and conditions • Terminate their employment • Agree changes to their terms and conditions
When employers are making these decisions, it is important to remember that equality and discrimination laws will apply in the usual way.
