Shared Values and a Passion to Serve

LOVE TO LAST A LIFETIME

other through ups and downs. We were drawn to one another because our personalities meshed, and our strong friendship developed into a partnership. We celebrated our honeymoon in Lake Tahoe and San Francisco, and it was incredible. It was a chance to restore and slow down. We both prefer a vacation that’s geared toward the outdoors, and our trip provided us this opportunity. Being in the scenery and watching the snowfall was incredible. Neither of us had been to Lake Tahoe or San Francisco before, and we loved seeing the beauty of the mountainous West. Visiting Alcatraz was a cool experience as we learned about the history of California. What stood out to me most, though, was the peace and joy I felt as Lori and I took this time to celebrate our love. It was a chance to get away from everything and just celebrate us. We cut out all the noise that tends to surround us, and we were enveloped instead by the quiet, snowy views and each other’s company. I feel so blessed that I’m married to someone who shares my values and who is so supportive of what I do. To me, that’s how our relationship has grown into marriage. We have shared values and goals, and we both have a zest for life, which is what brought us together. We both work in an industry that serves people and tries to have a positive impact on their lives. Knowing that Lori shares those passions and that we get to share our life together is an incredible feeling. As I think about our marriage, I’m reminded that your next five years are determined by the people you surround yourself with. I’m confident that with Lori, the next five years are going to be awesome. To Lori, thank you for being my friend, my support, and the love of my life.

After one of the busiest seasons of my life, I’m excited to get back into the flow of things. This season feels like the next chapter of my life, and not just when it comes to business. This winter, surrounded by family, friends, and co-workers on a bright, windy day, Lori and I became husband and wife. We got married in the beautiful outdoor surroundings of Steelwood Country Club, and we couldn’t have asked for a better location. With a 200-acre lake and green hills, it was the ideal setting for marrying my best friend. Lori and I were friends for a long time before we dated, and our friendship built a strong foundation for our relationship. As I got to know Lori, I realized we shared many of the same values. She was driven and had goals like me. She was just as excited about her business as I was. We didn’t have conversations about the next pop star or the coolest new video on the internet; we talked about deeper parts of life as we guided and supported each

HOW TO FIND A RELIABLE BABYSITTER

Date night is good for the whole family, and the University of Lincoln found that, even when all other factors are removed, couples who regularly go out together are more likely to stay together. But child care is a full-time job, and it doesn’t leave much room for romantic moonlit strolls. Having a great babysitter will free up your schedule for some much-needed couple time. But how do you find a sitter you can trust? These tips and resources will help you find a sitter your whole family will feel comfortable with. SEEK OUT PERSONAL RECOMMENDATIONS When you’re looking for a high-trust service like babysitting, it’s often best to ask friends and family for recommendations. This is especially true if you know people whose children are a similar age as your own. Be sure to ask questions about the referrals you receive and make sure your potential sitter will be a good fit for your family’s needs. TURN TO TRUSTED LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS Colleges, neighborhoods, and places of worship often maintain lists of reliable sitters within the community. Asking members of these groups for testimonials will help you gauge a candidate’s professionalism. Kindergartens and day care centers are another great local resource to turn to. Often, teachers and assistants will moonlight as sitters, bringing with them a host of child care skills. SURF THE WEB There are great web-based resources for finding babysitters. Make sure the sites you visit are properly accredited and have plenty of good reviews. Most national sites do a full background check on all of their listed sitters. These almost always charge a membership fee, but many parents feel that added layer of security is worth it. CONDUCT INTERVIEWS Ultimately, the only way you can know if a candidate is the right babysitter for you is to meet them yourself. Make sure the whole family is present; you’ll want to pay attention to how your potential sitter interacts with your kids during the interview. Ask questions specific to your family’s needs and keep the needs of the sitter in mind, as well. Finding a babysitter who can give you and your partner peace of mind is essential. Thankfully, there’s a wealth of local and web-based resources you can pull from. With a little inquiring, you’ll be able to leave home knowing your children are in great hands.

It’s been almost two years since I walked through the doors of Daphne Fit Body Boot Camp. And I still remember saying to myself, “What was I thinking? I can’t do this. I’m not in shape,” and, “I don’t have time for this; I’m a mother of three young children and I have a full-time job.” Yes, I had all the excuses. But I had also hit that point — you know, when your favorite jeans no longer fit — where I knew I needed and wanted to make positive changes in my life for myself and for my family. So, I not only came in for a class, I went all-in, with jittery nerves and everything. I signed up for an eight-week challenge, and I’ve never looked back. Even after the first week, when I was so sore that I found muscles I didn’t even know I had, I was completely hooked. I was not a fitness person. I hadn’t done any consistent workouts since college. And I can’t say there is any one thing that makes DFBBC more than “just a gym,” because it’s the whole package. The encouragement and support I received from the very first class made me want to come back day after day. Challenging, yes, but so much fun! The amazing staff and coaches pushed me to reach the goals they knew I had. Plus, I was getting constant motivation from all the awesome members. Family is the best way to describe the people and atmosphere at DFBBC. You love them and occasionally dislike them, like when you are getting so sore you can’t move, but you never want to leave them. Once I started seeing results, I was no longer searching for time to go to the gym. I was making the time. My results started with an increased energy level — more mobility and endurance to help me push myself. With the challenges, I learned so much about nutrition and making this a lifestyle. Once I started incorporating my new nutritional habits with the workouts, my transformation became noticeable on the outside as well. It is the best feeling when those clothes become looser and, before you know it, you are dropping sizes. I look forward to seeing many new faces at DFBBC. It has been one of the best decisions of my life! Lindsey Ankersen’s Fit Body Boot Camp Experience

Warm Up With a Workout

Here in the South, we’ve had some unusually cold days this winter. With chilly temperatures, it can be difficult to crawl out of your warm bed to get to your morning workout. If your motivation is taking a dip this time of year, here are three tips for warming it up. 1. MAKE IT ‘WE,’ NOT ‘ME’ There’s a reason this is a core value at Daphne FBBC — there’s no better motivation than knowing that if you skip your morning workout, you won’t just feel less energized, you’ll let your team down. With cool coaches and the friends you make in group workouts, the familiar faces will be a happy sight greeting you at the gym. If you’re new to the club, bring a friend or family member along and you’ll be each other’s “accountabilibuddies.” Remember: “We,” not “me.” 2. SWITCH UP YOUR ROUTINE You may be a night owl or a morning person, but in the winter, the shorter days can make it difficult to maintain your typical

a morning workout can help curb your appetite and keep you burning more calories throughout the day. If you’re looking to bulk up, you may benefit from an early evening workout — research shows that your muscles are more receptive to exercise at that time of day. 3. FIND AN INDOOR WORKOUT YOU LOVE In the summer, it’s great to get outdoors and soak in nature’s beauty. But for nature lovers, winter can give you a case of cabin fever. How do you beat it? Get those endorphins back with an indoor workout! By finding an indoor gym that you love, you’ll feel motivated to show up, no matter what it’s like outside. At Daphne Fit Body Boot Camp and Fit Body Forever, our awesome, knowledgeable coaches and variety of times and class levels make working out in the winter a breeze.

schedule. Sometimes, mixing it up and working out at a different time of day can give you the boost you need.

If you typically work out in the morning, try an evening class; if you’re a night owl, try a morning session. A BYU study found that
