A NOTE FROM SYLVIA Can you believe it is already October! As you breathe in the crisp air and enjoy the beautiful fall foliage, this month sets the stage for reflection on the past year, winter preparation and importantly, in an election year, participation in our democracy. It’s a month that invites us to embrace the spirit of civic responsibility and consider the impact we can make on the world around us. We’re excited to premiere “The American Vice President” on October 1 at 8 pm. This new film from “American Experience” takes us back to a turbulent era in our nation's history, focusing on the years between 1963 and 1974. During this time, America, grappling with grief and scandal, was compelled to redefine the role of the vice president. The documentary delves into the passage of the 25 th Amendment, offering a fresh perspective on presidential succession. Of course, on the same evening, the nation will turn its eyes to the vice-presidential debate between Ohio Senator J.D. Vance and Minnesota’s own Governor Tim Walz. Be sure to stay tuned to “PBS News Hour” for the insightful coverage you rely on. October is also known as the spookiest month of the year, when the wind begins to howl, and the shadows grow longer. Just in time for Halloween, we have two thrilling programs lined up for you on October 30. At 7 pm, “Nature” will take you deep into Romania’s Carpathian Mountains in “Dracula’s Hidden Kingdom,” revealing a world where ancient forests remain untouched, and wildlife thrives in what is one of Europe’s last true wildernesses. Then, at 9 pm, “Secrets of the Dead” presents “Field of Vampires,” which uncovers chilling burial practices from centuries past, exploring the mysterious life — and death — of a woman believed to be a vampire. As we look ahead, October 21-27 marks National Estate Planning Awareness Week. This is a time to think about the legacy you wish to leave behind. By including TPT in your estate plan, you help to ensure that we continue to serve future generations. Our Giving Team is here to assist you at 651.229.1410 or giving@tpt.org.
