Miyu Shito has trained in classical ballet for 15 years in Fujiwara Meiko Ballet Studio in Japan. She performed the lead, Oddett in “Swan Lake” there. After graduating from the studio and high school, Miyu left the country and moved to Missouri Valley College to seek a college education in America. She joined the Repertory Dance Ensemble during her freshman year and learned lots of dance styles such as Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Contemporary. She has performed a solo in Florida Disney World (Freshman year) and the lead, The Girl in REP “Brave” concert (Sophomore year). Miyu became the first official member on the brand new Dance Team here at Valley (2018) where she learned competitive Jazz, Poms and Hiphop. Junior year Miyu became the first All-American Dancer at Missouri Valley College (2020). Regarding academics, she is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Dance. As she maintains focus on school as well as dance, Miyu became a member of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. After graduating from MVC, she’s planning to go to a graduate school in I/O Psychology and establish her own dance studio in the future. Guest Choreographers: Jillian Davis is a Kutztown, PA native, and began her ballet training at the age of 3. She studied extensively with Risa Kaplowitz and Susan Jaffe at Princeton Dance and Theater Studio in Princeton, NJ. Jillian has attended San Francisco Ballet, School of American Ballet, as well as Pacific Northwest Ballet and LINES Ballet, both on scholarship. In 2013, she developed the Jillian Davis Dance Project and her choreography was commissioned by Missouri Valley College. Her piece, Tiel, was featured at Jennifer Muller’s HATCHED Series and was selected as a finalist for Rider University’s Emerging Choreographers Showcase. Jillian has been a company member with Complexions since 2014. She has been a part of several Dwight Rhoden world premieres, including Headspace, Strum, Gutter Glitter, Stardust, Bach 25, WOKE, and Elegy. She has also performed installation works by Desmond Richardson and an excerpt of Approximate Sonata by William Forsythe. This is her seventh season with complexions. IG @jillange93 Kebly Hogan is originally from Carrollton, MO where she attended Shapes Dance and Acro from the ages of 5-18. She won multiple titles and awards on both the regional and national stage throughout her years at SDA. Kelby received a degree in dance from Missouri Valley. After graduating from Valley Kelby and her family bought a house and settled down in Marshall where she taught for Shapes and served as the School Director, Competition Supervisor and Teacher/Choreographer for 4 years. Kelby recently returned to MVC as the Head Dance Team Coach and Dance Adjunct. Throughout her professional career she has won multiple choreography awards, but more importantly, inspired many young lives through her dance instruction.
Jenasyn Baker began dance and gymnastic classes at age 8 in Richmond, MO at Shapes Dance and Acro. From ages 11 to 18, she danced competitively at competitions such as Groove, Talent on Parade, Bravo, and Stage One. During these years, she studied in the styles of acrobatics, ballet, contemporary, improv, jazz, lyrical, and modern. She performed in numerous recitals and attended many outside workshops. Jenasyn was also a member of the STAR Leadership program. Her favorite memory was performing on a Carnival Cruise ship in July 2016. After high school, Jenasyn took a hiatus from dance to study Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia. In her junior year of college, she transferred to Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO to study English, and she is now a part of the Dance Team as well as the Repertory Dance Ensemble. Chloe Campbell is a Freshman at Missouri Valley College. She is double majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. She is also a part of the Missouri Valley College Dance Team and the Repertory Dance Company. She has been dancing for 12 years and competing for 6. Chloe works at Broadway Bound Dance Studio and teached Jazz, Modern, and TLC. In the future, she hopes to teach Kindergarten or have her own Special Education class. Tori Heglin is a freshman this year and she is from Des Moines, Iowa. She has danced at Ashlee’s Creative Arts Academy for 7 years. Tori has been a competitive dancer since she was 13 and has attended many regional and national competitions. She came to Missouri Valley to major in dance and also be a part of the dance team. After college, she hopes to one day become a dance teacher. She loves both choreographing and performing in many styles but her favorite is lyrical. Amber Newsom is a sophomore, originally from Des Moines, Iowa. She is majoring in Dance with hopes of becoming a dance teacher in the future. This will be Amber’s second year being a part of the Missouri Valley Dance Team and Repertory Dance Ensemble. She has been a studio dancer since the age of two and has competed in many regional and national award-winning dances. She has practiced a variety of styles of dance but loves performing Lyrical and Jazz most of all. In addition to dancing, she also likes to tumble. Amber has also assisted in teaching dance classes to a variety of ages. She is excited to continue her passion for dance here at Missouri Valley College.
