About WCN Wisconsin Christian News represents a cooper- ative effort by active Christians from all walks of life. In our pages and on our website, you will find Infor- mation, Education and Inspiration, with a majority of the articles written by members of our “WCN Fam- ily” of contributors. There is something of interest to every member of the family. We hope you are blessed and become a regular reader. WCN seeks, at all times, to publish the TRUTH, regardless of “political correctness,” standing up for America’s historical Christian heritage and urging a return to biblical, moral standards. We offer very thought-provoking commentary, inspired teach- ing, real life testimonies, world, national, state and regional news, plus advice and information from experts in their areas of business and ministry -- all in the various sections of our 48-page newspa- per. In addition to providing valuable content to the Christian community, we focus equally on reach- ing those who are lost and seeking, and those who may have been alienated from church as an institution in the past. You’ll find WCN on the racks in the lobbies of grocery stores, family restaurants, shopping centers and malls and most Christian book stores. Of course, you can also find a copy at many of our “Ministry Partner” advertisers’ business and ministry locations. This is our outreach to the mar- ketplace, and we receive many wonderful testi- monies from people who have found the Lord for the first time, or returned to Him, after many years away, after finding our newspaper in a public place. Our Doctrinal Statement • There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. • Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was

• The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all na- tions. The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. • There shall be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust; for the former, a resurrection unto life; for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment. • The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent and will be personal, visible, and pre-mil- lennial. This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service. conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. He died, was buried and arose from the dead ac- cording to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom of right- eousness and peace. • The Holy Spirit is sent to indwell, guide, teach, empower the believer, and convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. • The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as origi- nally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice. • Man was originally created in the image and like- ness of God; he fell through disobedience, incurring, thereby, both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the love of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ. • Salvation has been made available through Jesus Christ for all men; those who repent and be- lieve in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. • It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit and be sanctified wholly, being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service. This is both a crisis and a progressive experience wrought in the life of the believer subsequent to conversion. • Provision is made in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the healing of the mor- tal body. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the church in the present age.

forcement agency, or “ICE,” finally starting to enforce immigration laws. An estimated 350,000 illegals were de- ported last year, while others, with vio- lent crime charges, were detained. But millions of illegals remain and likely al- ways will. In July, the Trump administration of- ficially opened a detention facility in the Florida Everglades, which came to be known as “Alligator Alcatraz,” because of it’s high security in guarding what was called the “worst of the worst” ille- gal alien criminals....those who’ve com- mitted rape, murder, arson, drug running, human trafficking and were gang leaders. Of course, the never-ending protests against Trump continued last year. Millions participated in “No Kings” protests in June and October. Protes- tors were angry about Trump’s stifling of DEI programs, the arrest and depor- tation of illegals, sending National Guard troops to assist police in cities like DC and Chicago, and attempts to stop government funding of abortions, among other things. The protests against ICE turned into violent riots in many places, especially Los Angeles, where violent clashes be- tween protestors and law enforcement took place. Rocks, fireworks and other objects were thrown; vehicles and prop- erty were destroyed, and large crowds blocked major streets and freeways. By mid-June, around 4,100 National Guard personnel and 700 active-duty Marines were called in to restore law and order. The LA riots alone caused millions of dollars in damages. Continued on Page 7

As a kid, I had a hard time imaging the year 2000, but now, we’re more than a quarter century past that, as 2025 rolls into history. According to surveys, only 10% of Americans felt it was a “good” year; 20% thought it was a “bad” year and 28% thought it was a “terrible” year. The rest just responded that it was “ok” or said they were un- certain. Other polls found nearly half of Amer- icans say their financial security has worsened in the last year. People are deeply concerned about inflation and having to adjust to a lower standard of living. What’s more, young Americans are finding it difficult to afford rent, and young married couples have found even modest “starter homes” are well beyond their reach now. Other areas of concern include polit- ical tensions, corruption in govern- ment, a failing healthcare system, the fear of economic collapse, cyber terror- ism, the possibility of wars escalating and the growing epidemic of violent crime nationwide. But let’s go deeper and take a look back over the past year, to remember things we may have forgotten, and the things many never will. The year began with the Pacific Palisades fire in Los An- geles County, fueled by extreme Santa Ana winds and dry conditions. The blaze destroyed thousands of homes and structures, and at least 12 people were killed. January also marked the start of Donald Trump’s second term in office. He signed 70 executive orders that month alone, including six on his first

day: one restoring freedom of speech and ending federal censorship; one restoring names that honor America; one defending women from gender ide- ology extremism; one ending radical DEI programs across the federal gov- ernment; one ending federal funding for elective abortions and one prohibit- ing the creation of a central bank digital currency in America. The newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (or DOGE) made major headlines as it slashed bloated budgets and uncovered ob- scene wasteful spending and fraud within government agencies. This was led by Elon Musk, who took a great deal of “backlash” from liberals op- posed to his working with Trump. Those who formerly supported him

wholeheartedly — along with his Tesla electric vehicles — began protesting, calling Musk (and Tesla owners) “Nazis” while vandalizing Tesla cars and deal- erships. By the end of May, Musk and Trump had parted ways, and the De- partment of Government Efficiency was officially dissolved in November. So much for that. But it looked good — for a while. On January 29, we also witnessed one of the deadliest aviation incidents in history, as an American Eagle flight, on approach to Ronald Reagan Na- tional Airport collided with a US Army Blackhawk helicopter on a training flight. All 67 people on board both air- craft were killed. Other big news of the year included the US Immigration and Customs En-

2026: The Race Before Us

By Jim Schneider, Executive Director,

so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1). The problem is that too many are hanging on to weights — the burdens, and the en- cumbrances — that either slow them down or cause

ments of this world (which are many.) Such diver- sions come freely and easily and this is why it is nec- essary to keep one’s eyes concentrated on the Savior. Paul also wrote, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philip- pians 3:14). Paul was singular in his focus doing that which pleased the Lord. He pressed “toward the mark.” It is imperative for every believer in Christ to have this same sort of focus. It does not come by osmosis, rather one needs to be daily in the Word, spending time in prayer, and being faithful in a local church that upholds the authority of God’s Word cou- pled with diligent service to God. There will be much that comes our way in 2026. Many will be lulled to sleep thinking everything is “okay.” Others will rest in the laurels of certain political leaders to carry the load, and others will relegate responsibilities to “the pastor.” Like Paul, it is imperative for be- lievers to fulfill their role of being “salt and light” realizing his responsibility as stated in I Corinthians 4:2, “Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” The Apostle Paul was such an example. He stayed the path with his eyes focused on Christ. He found that the path is not easy. He was imprisoned, beaten and later martyred, but he had a testimony for pres- ent believers in Jesus to follow. What a remarkable witness he left for all to follow today, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love His appearing.” (II Timothy 4:7,8). As this New Year is already underway, may each be- liever in Jesus Christ run well, endure and stay en- gaged in the race until God calls us home or until Jesus returns! VCY.org

VCY America January 2026

As a new year has dawned, it is vital for every believer in Jesus Christ to be

engaged and proactive. There must be a realization that one’s

purpose on this earth far exceeds the simple occupying of space. Rather, there is a race to run and each must faithfully endure in 2026! In many Scriptures, the Christian life is likened to a race. The Apostle Paul wrote, “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.” (I Corinthians 9:24). Many today seem content to sit back and watch others en- gage in the race, carry out the tasks and do the heavy lifting. But yet, the charge is for all to participate and to go all-out. The word “run” carries the idea of exerting one’s self and striv- ing hard. Believers are not called to be spec- tators, but participators, and to do so in such a way that will allow them to cross the finish line with success. Sadly, as we examine the culture today, it’s obvious that many have given up and have retreated to the sidelines. There is great temptation to not rock the boat, to be everybody’s friend and to live a life of ease. After all, who wants confrontation? Such an attitude neglects dutiful Christian responsibility. Paul again addresses this, “Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?” (Galatians 5:7). In other words he is asking, “You were doing so good in this race, who ran you off the course?” It’s trouble- some to know many have left the race. Some are side- tracked by errant doctrine; others are captivated by pleasure, or swallowed up by entertainment and do not want to be disturbed. Yet others are consumed by apathy toward the plight of this world. The book of Hebrews provides guidance on this mat- ter. In the great “hall of faith” chapter in Hebrews 11 many clear examples are given of those who followed the Lord in faith. Following this the writer says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with

them to have to leave the track. While a runner will often wear weights during the training process, those weights are removed when it comes to the actual race. This is such a race that each is presently running. A reference is also made to besetting sins that grab hold of the runner and render the individual as non- effective in the race. Such besetting sins can be that which involves alcohol, sexual perversion, pornogra- phy, marital infidelity, a lust for popularity, lying, thieving, foul speech, etc. Such sins need to be con- fessed and forsaken. They will not only hinder the runner, but completely sideline them in the race. In- stead, the runner is exhorted to have endurance through the race set before him. How can one keep from these many distractions in the race? By, “Looking unto Jesus the Author and Fin- isher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (He- brews 12:2). Indeed, it is critical for the believer to keep their eyes focused on Jesus, thus freeing them from being captivated by the distractions and allure-

Perspectives Opinions • Commentary • Letters The Fear Of God and Innocent Blood A Look at Joseph in Genesis

By Pastor Matthew Trewhella January 2026 I have been preaching through Genesis for the last two years. Many ex- cellent sermons along the way. You can check them out at YouTube at our channel titled “Mercy Seat Christian Church.”

innocent blood. The Jews demonstrated they knew this even when it came to Christ — Pi- late said he did not think Jesus was guilty of anything — “What wrong has He done?” — and the Jews cried out “His blood be upon our heads!” When it comes to the slaughter of the pre- born - we cannot say – “Our hands have not shed this blood, nor have our eyes seen it!” as Deuteronomy 21 speaks of. ALL Americans

In verse 22, Jospeh’s brother Reuben brings up innocent blood. He was feeling the guilt of the innocent blood they had shed of Jospeh (not realizing it was Joseph standing before them). Innocent blood was a matter under- stood by Joseph’s brothers and all Hebrews. Innocent blood is a theme found throughout Scripture.

We first see it with Cain slaying Abel. His

know this killing — this shedding of innocent blood — is taking place. Every day. Week after week; month after month; year after year, for over 50 years now. And we have tolerated it. We have accommodated ourselves to it. Why do we show the signs — the large photographs of the murdered preborn? To inform people that abor- tion is truly the brutal murder of an actual person; to inform the people that they have bloodguilt; that the righteous judgment of God is upon our nation. Our photographs stand as a haunting indictment upon this nation that we have impugned God’s law — and He will bring retribution — He will establish justice.

In verse 18 of chapter 42, the Scripture reads: “Then Joseph said to them (his brothers while he is now second in command in all of Egypt) the third day, ‘Do this and live, for I fear God.’” Notice that life is connected with fearing God. Notice also that Jospeh says this as a magistrate – as a gov- ernment official. Joseph wanted to assure them that he was a just man who ruled in the fear of the Lord. Joseph never forgot the Lord, even though he had been in Egypt for over twenty years now and had encultur- ated with the Egyptians to an extent. He even had an Egyptian wife. But what he was taught regarding the Lord as a child and a young man still stuck with him. He knew right and wrong.

This whole nation’s hands are cov- ered in blood. ALL OF US have blood-

blood cried out from the ground. When some- one kills someone unjustly — in other words, not in self-defense or defense of others — they procure what the Bible declares as “blood- guilt.” As the Lord declares in Genesis 9:6, “Whoever sheds man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God He [God] made them.” When someone kills someone, the blood of the one who killed him is to be shed, through execution. Deuteronomy 21 gives the proce- dure to follow if the murderer is unknown — and after the process is given, verse 9 con- cludes by saying, “So you shall put away the of innocent blood from among you.” One example of innocent blood and blood guilt in our day is abortion. When it comes to abortion we are talking about innocent blood being shed. We’re talking about blood- guilt. God will bring His judgment for all this shedding of innocent blood in America. It may not come on Friday, but it will come. Even Thomas Jefferson had to utter this fact when he said, “I tremble for my country when I re- flect that God is just; that His justice cannot s l e e p forever."

guilt as Americans.

Though he was speaking roughly with them, he wanted them to understand that he feared God, and would therefore act justly in his actions towards them. Matthew Henry says of Jospeh’s statement “for I fear God” — “Note, with those that fear God we have reason to expect fair dealing. The fear of God will be a check upon those that are in power, to restrain them from abus- ing their power to oppression and tyranny. Those that have no one else to stand in awe of ought to stand in awe of their own con- sciences. See Nehemiah 5:14 and 15.” The Scripture reads in Nehemiah 5:14 and 15: “Moreover, from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year until the thirty-second year of King Artaxerxes, twelve years, neither I nor my brothers ate the governor’s provisions. But the former governors who were before me laid burdens on the people, and took from them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of sil- ver. Yes, even their servants bore rule over the people, but I did not do so, because of the fear of God.” Notice that Nehemiah was not a socialist. He did not look to the state to meet their needs like so many do in America. He did not burden the people with heavy taxation — again, like America. Nehemiah was not a sta- tist dog — like the people and magistrates of America are.

Innocent blood is a terrible thing for which the Scriptures are repeatedly clear — God judges nations. America is awash in it. As it says in Isaiah 1:15, “When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.” May we take action on behalf of these little ones in our nation. May we call the Church in America and the inhabitants of this nation to repentance for the indifference to their slaughter. Matt Trewhella is pastor of Mercy Seat Chris- tian Church ( MercySeat.net ); founder of Mis- sionaries to the Preborn ( MissionariesToThePreborn.com ); and teacher of the lesser magistrate doctrine ( DefyTyrants.com ). He and his wife, Clara, have eleven children and 30 grandchildren and reside in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. The Power of Invitation: People Say ‘Yes’ to Jesus

By Roger Johnson January 2026

element of truth and believability to the matter. Your personal invitation is real and life-chang- ing. It’s individual-directed and comes from an actual person who has been born again and has, in fact, seen his life converted. That invi- tation is directed toward a very real person whom God has put on His own agenda. You bet it’s personal! Each convert is a very real human being: body, soul and spirit. He will be compelled (by the Holy Spirit) to say “Yes,” to Jesus. The in- vitation is not a paid commercial, nor some- one’s good story. The invitation is propelled by love and personally received as good news.

was also leader-to-leader: Neal, as leader of the Basketball Buddies and Coach Farley, as leader of Highland’s hoopsters. Coach Farley is also leader of his family – meaning four people attended church and came to Jesus. Invitations have always worked! In June 1930, 11-year-old John Meyer in- vited his 10-year-old friend, Bobby Johnson, to try Vacation Bible School at Chicago’s Riis Park Baptist Church. Bobby came to VBS along with 15 other new neighborhood kids who all said “Yes” to Pastor John Cross’s invi- tation to repent of sins and follow Jesus into

Sixteen-year-old Neal Simpson and his “Bas- ketball Buddies” sing in a gospel quartet at High- land Baptist Church. While practicing last month, Neal had an idea: “Why not invite Coach Bud Farley, Highland High’s basketball guru, to come hear the quartet sing at Highland Bap- tist?”

Acting quickly, Neal dropped by the athletic office and person- ally invited Coach Farley to come to Highland Baptist next Sunday at 10 am for the opening music. Coach acknowledged the invite with a quick “Thanks Neal,” and then swiftly changed subjects to Neal’s abysmal 65 percent free throw percentage, “Gotta move up toward 80 percent kid,” he complained. Neal agreed and shuffled off, thinking he had not gotten through to Coach with his invitation. The following Sunday, 9:55 am, Neal and “the Buddies” were checking sound on stage at Highland Church when Coach Farley, his wife and two kids

Why is an Invitation Impor- tant? An invitation to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord is par- ticularly important in our time when we are assaulted with ru- mors, and commands to spend, talk, vote, or take any number of actions to please an advertiser. By contrast, the salvation invita- tion is initiated by God, who prompts a believer to deliver that invitation as a personal Chris- tian witness. The individual wit- ness lends a huge credibility to God’s invitation. Few people know how to hear and then respond to God’s call- ing them (think Moses and the burning bush, “I am the God of

found their seats into the back row pew. Neal was not ready for the whole family, but he flashed a big smile at them. Coach Farley smiled back as the Buddies belted out the opening lines of “In Christ Alone.” The invita- tion had worked! We don’t know if Coach Farley heard the sal- vation message through either the Buddies’ songs or the pastor’s sermon invitation. Maybe it happened a few Sundays later as Coach and his family kept coming to Highland Baptist, digging into the Pastor’s sermons and even signing up for a baptism class to begin next month. But Neal Simpson’s invitation was the beginning of abundant life for Coach Bud Far- ley and his family. The truth is simple. Personal invitations work! And the key word is “personal” – Neal (a real student, singer and believer) invited Bud Farley (a real coach, husband and father) to church. It was not a mass mailing or robo-call. It was a person-to-person, verbal invitation. It

eternal life. I know all the varieties of this pow- erful story because Bobby was my father and June Helgesen, another 10 year-old convert, was my mother. Both Bobby and June lived close to Jesus because they both said “Yes” when invited nearly 100 years ago. The invita- tion worked again! Move with me to October 2002. Leo Granato coached basketball in a Chicago church gym on Belden Avenue. Church trustee, Bob Eber- sol, invited Leo to join him in attending Sunday morning services. Leo said “Yes,” and realized church was for him, … and also for his wife and family. Within three months, 19 of Leo’s immediate and extended family were attending gospel services on Belden Avenue. God not only added to his church, He also multiplied the fruit of Bob’s personal witness. So what is the big deal of a personal witness? As you read these paragraphs, I am persuading you of the Gospel in a very personal way. I am stating convictions about Jesus’ mission that I

your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” Exodus 3:6). But people do know how to respond to a human in- vitation directed their way. We are honored that an invitation is directed to us. We are interested in what we are called to consider. We are then obligated to respond to a personal invitation, rather than automati- cally deleting an email. We are the human channel for communicating Jesus’ original in- vitation ( “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” Revelation 3:20), and we bring a power to the news that Jesus is still knocking at each unbeliever’s heart. Claim that power, God’s power, as you deliver your invitation to a friend, neighbor, or relative. As a boy, I remember seeing and believing the burnt-in engraving on my new baseball glove – “genuine leather.” The glove was not made of plastic. It started as cowhide and re- mained real leather through all the tanning and stitching process. And that fielder’s glove remains as genuine leather for a long, long time! In the same way, genuine invitations have staying power. They are true and they remain true for lifetimes to come. Repentance is the human key to receiving forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus. And as a sinner re- pents, his spiritual identity is changed from sinner to follower of Jesus, the son of the true and living God. As a believer in Jesus, you and I have re- ceived a high command and calling. Matthew 28:19-20 tells us to, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have com- manded you.” If you and I cannot go to every nation in the world, then certainly we must be responsible to Jesus by witnessing to our own family, our own town, and our own circle of friends. have personally allowed to change my own life. I, as well, responded to the Gospel as taught to me by a personal wit- ness, Les Wilkinson, while I was an 8-year- old at the River Grove Bible Church on March 8, 1959. I heard Jesus’ promise of salvation through Les’ personal invitation to a group of elementary students, and I responded with the best “Yes” of my life- time. Personal invitations keep working! Eleven- year-old Kevin Treavan heard my own invitation to follow Jesus in our cabin at Camp Sonshine of Niles, Michigan, in August of 1972. Kevin responded with a “Yes” and has personally known abundant life in Jesus ever since. “Personal” brings an

The 4th of July weekend saw catastrophic flooding in the Central Texas Hill Country. As a tropical storm stalled over the area, river levels surged more than 20-30 feet in a mat- ter of hours. The flooding caused at least 135 deaths, in- cluding at least 27 children and counselors at a Christian girls’ camp. On September 10th, Charlie Kirk, the founder of the con- servative youth organization Turning Point USA, was gunned down while speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University. Liberals cheered and celebrated his death, but TPUSA reported re- ceiving tens of thousands of in- quiries from students and schools about starting new chapters in the weeks that fol- lowed. To give you an idea as to the scope of this, there were 32,000 requests within 48 hours of his death. Still, the Foundation for Indi- vidual Rights and Expression reported at least 300 protests last year, with college students attempting to disrupt, block or cancel conservative speakers on campuses nationwide. Many of them turned violent, most notably at UC Berkeley in November. And socialist mayors were elected in Seattle and New York City in November. There are now Socialists in positions of political power in 40 of our 50 states. A 48-year-old Portugese na- tional opened fire at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island on December 13, killing two and wounding nine others. Two days later, he fa- tally shot an MIT professor in Massachusetts. The alleged shooter was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in New Hampshire on December 18. This is certainly not a com- plete list of notable events in 2025. I could also mention Is- rael, Gaza and Iran; Russia and Ukraine; the Biden Au- topen scandal; the heavily redacted Epstein files, the so- called “Big Beautiful Bill;” the implementation of RealID; the rise of AI, and more. But suf- fice to say that 2025 was an- other year of turmoil, violence, lawlessness and disaster. I can understand why people are so unhappy. Despite our best human ef- forts, we must understand that we live in a nation that’s aban- doned God and therefore, we’re reaping what we’ve sown. Un- less we repent and return again to worshiping and serv- ing the Creator, rather than the creation — or the false gods of our own imaginations — things are not going to get any better. But I’m concerned that even those who do know and serve Jesus as Lord and Savior are suffering from depression and giving up the fight. The other day I say a short video clip of a Christian woman stating she’s

“done with everything in this world and just ready to go home to Jesus.” Her joy of liv- ing is gone and apparently, she’s done trying to be salt and light in a world ruled by Satan and his demonic angels. That’s a bad attitude to have, but I understand it. I know how dis- couraging it can be and how all the bad news and horrible events that happen can wear you down. But understand, it’s a spiritual battle and Satan uses fear and discouragement to immobilize God’s people and cause them to hide and be wholly ineffective in the battle. Instead, we need to “fear not,” stand firm ‘til the end, occupy until Christ returns, and take back the ground the devil has stolen. And yes, that is possi- ble. Internet news sources thrive on bad news and scary head- lines, and the powers that be behind the curtain continue to pull the strings to socially en- gineer hearts and minds for their own purposes. So-called “news” organizations use “click bait” to get people to read their stories. These are sensational- ized headlines designed to draw you in to a story that has little to no substance. But the latest thing now is called “rage bait.” These are stories de- signed to create division and hatred among Americans — stories that serve only to en- rage one demographic against another. It’s all manipulation. Don’t fall for any of it. Maybe we need to begin look- ing at things through spiritual eyes rather than carnal ones and come to understand that if we, as Christ-followers, give up the fight, give in to discourage- ment, anxiety, depression and deception, we will have become good for nothing, except to be thrown out and trampled under the feet of men. Read Matthew 24 and understand the times we’re living in. And take note of verse 13, which promises, “But he that shall en- dure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Also, we need to really exam- ine our churches, pastors and teachers. Don’t follow the teachings of men who like to “nuance” Scriptures to fit their own agendas. “Many false prophets shall rise and shall de- ceive many.” And today, we have many Bible Prophecy teachers, finding seals, trum- pets and bowls behind every new news story. Their predic- tions can be sensational and exciting, even if they’re not true. But true or not, those er- roneous teachings sure make a lot of profits for the self-pro- claimed “prophets.” I get it. We would all like to know the future. And it’s good to be aware of the signs of the times and sound a warning to the lost and perishing. But it seems the most popular so- called “Prophecy Teachers” are the ones who basically tell you, it’s all over. Nothing to do now

but sit and wait, because the latest news story “proves” Jesus’ return is any day now. I’ve seen at least three prophecy teachers present their “proof” that His coming will occur in 2026. What did we read in Matthew? “Many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.” Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m waiting eagerly for our Lord’s return too. I’m not a scoffer, as we read about in 2nd Peter 3, “there shall come in the last days scoffers, walk- ing after their own lusts, and saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming?’” But, I believe our job is to make sure our lamps are always filled with oil. In other words, we’re to be ready to meet Him every day — because today may be that day, whether today is the Day of the Lord or simply our own personal appointment to meet Him. On a bookshelf, in a place of honor in my home, is a man- tle clock. I inherited it when my parents passed away. That clock was in our home my whole life as a kid, but it was broken and my Dad was never able to find a repairman to fix it. So, it was relegated to a side room and all but for- gotten. When it became mine, I took it and had it fixed. I was in my 50s before I ever heard it chime. The clock is special because it belonged to my grandfather, a devout Christian who emi- grated here from Ireland. On the front of the clock is a plaque, stating it was pre- sented to him by a Protestant organization he belonged to, and it reads, “on the occasion of his marriage, September 21st, 1910.” The clock is now 116 years old. It still keeps pretty good time, and chimes beautifully every hour — as long as I remember to wind it. And after 116 years, time is still ticking away, non-stop. My grandfather was a great and respected man of God who won many souls to Christ, but I don’t remember him at all. His personal ap- pointment with the Lord came when I was just two years old. I also inherited his Bibles, study materials and notes. He was an adamant student of Bible prophecy, and throughout the entirety of his life, he believed the “rapture” was imminent. His head- stone reads, “ To Reign with Christ.” His wife, my grand- mother, passed away before I was born. Her earthly body now lies next to his. And her headstone reads, “Be Ye Also Ready.” And so should we all. At all times. None of us know what 2026 will bring, but we know from Romans 13 that “now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed.” Be- ware of fake predictions, fake messiahs, fake prophets and fake news. Stick to God’s

Word. And don’t just sit and wait for the “rapture.” Instead, in this new year, keep your lamps filled with oil and be about your Father’s business, working diligently for His King- dom. And let nothing stop you...even as the clock of your

life — and God’s great Heavenly clock — continue to tick away the seconds that lead us all to eternity.

Wisconsin Christian News Is Reader Supported — Can You Spare $1 a Day to Join the Team?

Have you been blessed by picking up a copy of Wisconsin Christian News from a news rack in a public place? Do you appreciate the hard-hitting, thought provoking commentary, in- spired Bible teaching, and relevant (and truthful) news from around the world? Do you appreciate the fact that we pub- lish the TRUTH — whether it’s “politi- cally correct” or not? Do you like that we stand up for America’s historical Christian heritage, even as we urge a return to the moral, biblical standards that our nation once cherished? Wisconsin Christian News is a coop- erative effort by active Christ-followers from all walks of life. In our pages and on our website, you’ll find Information, Education and Inspiration, with a ma- jority of the articles written by members of our “WCN family” of contributors. WE HAVE SOME OF THE BEST CHRIS- TIAN WRITERS IN THE NATION IN OUR PAGES, FROM ALL OVER THE

COUNTRY — AND WCN IS NOT JUST FOR WISCONSIN! We have subscribers in all fifty states, distribute nationally, and our website is used by people WORLDWIDE! But while we provide valuable content to the Christian community, our real focus is on reaching those who are lost and seeking, or those who have been alienated from “church” as an institu- tion in the past. And especially those who have never heard the Good News of the Gospel of Christ, or have walked away from their faith and have contin- ued searching. The “free” copies you’ll find on the racks in lobbies of grocery stores, family restaurants, truck stops, bookstores, li- braries, hotels and other public places are our OUTREACH to those who oth- erwise would never get the truth of God’s Word or the truth of what’s re- ally going on in our world today.

paper, however, the revenue from our ads doesn’t come anywhere close to covering the enormous financial needs, which we must raise every month. For several years now, WCN has only been able to continue through the generous financial support of individuals — true Christ-followers who understand and support the ministry work we do. We are nearly 100% Reader Sup- ported now, yet of the thousands of copies we provide out in the public square, far fewer than 1% of those who pick a copy up every month ever send any type of support. This has now be- come unsustainable. Some have suggested we become an “online only” publication. But we hope you understand, if we were to do that, only those who are already Christians and who would go to our website pur- posely, would ever see it. This is why our print edition is VITAL — whereas

Every month, we distribute thousands of copies of Wisconsin Christian News free of charge, made available in public news racks. We also provide compli- mentary copies to jail inmates, shut- ins, and hospital patients. This is our ministry to those who are lost, hurting, confused and seeking the truth. We’ve had wonderful testimonies from people who have come to know the Lord for the first time, or returned to Him, after many years away, after finding and reading our newspaper in a public place. This is our outreach — and it truly is a ministry — our mission. But it costs a great deal of money to do this, and while we constantly receive requests for even MORE copies in these public areas, the costs to produce and distribute our printed newspaper con- tinue to rise every month.

We do have advertisements in the

a Bible tract or book handed to someone could easily be tossed aside, because we’re in newspa- per format, thousands of people pick up WCN each month — of their own freewill, because they want it! What better way to reach the unsaved, than for THEM to choose to pick up our newspaper on their own, be- cause something on our front page caught their attention? Then, eyes are opened and hearts and lives are changed. Very likely, we reach more un- saved souls out in public with God’s Word and truth in a sin- gle month than the average church will reach in its entire existence. This is not “boast- ing,” but rather the simple truth. Thus, we must maintain our print edition . This work is more vital now than ever before. Especially in this age of dis-in- formation and mis-information, political “spin” and radical left- ist “journalism.” But if Wisconsin Christian News is to continue as a print publication, available by sub- scription to Christians, as well as those thousands of free copies we place in public to reach the lost, we NEED YOUR HELP today! Please consider becoming a monthly Supporting Member of our ministry team. While so many readily fund overseas missionaries, THIS is a mis- sion — not in some far-off overseas land, but RIGHT HERE IN YOUR OWN BACK- YARD, where it’s so desper- ately needed. We’re asking for your help, and believe everybody can do something. Can you spare just $1 a day on a regular basis to assure WCN remains in print? Even less — $25 a month on a regular basis — would be a huge help if enough new sup- porters come alongside us. But if you’re truly not able to help fi- nancially, we ask that you please help prayerfully. With- out your help, we will not be able to continue this essential outreach much longer. Please prayerfully consider what YOU can and will do today, to make sure WCN is still there next month. Thank you, and God bless you.

The Salt & Light Brigade

Blessed Are the Peacemakers

By Coach Dave Daubenmire January 2026

Joshua…rough men that God used to ad- vance His Kingdom? I doubt there is a chap- ter in there of Benny Hinn…Rick Warren… or Joel Osteen…and their made-for-TV Christian productions. Peace-makers… .those are God’s men. Compromising men cannot defend a King- dom…only forfeit one. Donald Trump is God’s man.

I grew up in a family that consisted of four boys and one sister. My sister was the oldest of our clan and as you can probably imagine, the four born back to back boys lead to a rough and tumble upbringing. The no-holds- barred approach to survival amongst the brothers was often more than our

brave mother could handle.

You see, Mom was a peace-keeper, doing all that she could to keep the four brothers from killing each other. The pecking order was well established in our hierarchy and as my mother often said to us, “Boys, might does not make right.” She did her best to referee our noisome upbringing… spending most of her day refereeing the latest spat. Our mother was an expert at being a peace-keeper. But eventually she would reach the end of her rope and wail to our rowdy bunch of ornery boys those famous words that made us all shiver in our shoes. “I’ve had it with you boys! You wait until your father gets home!” I can still feel the remnants of the rumble that went down my spine with the thought of Dad and his belt when he got home from his hard labor in the factory at Kaiser Alu- minum. You see, my Dad was the peace-maker. When he showed up, all of the Tom Foolery ceased. Our father never uttered the words “Boys, this is going to hurt me more than you,” be- cause the swatting of his belt brought peace to the entire home. He wasn’t worried about our feelings. I find it interesting that Jesus warned us about the same thing. Fear is the greatest of all motivators and properly ap- plied, nothing will get the attention of a rowdy bunch more than the price that must be paid for disobedience. We are told in Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the children of God.” There is a huge difference between a keeper and a maker. Our Mom was a successful peace keeper because our fa- ther was a great peace maker. Those two jobs are not the same. One requires fear and discipline, the other, compro- mise and negotiation. As uncomfortable as it might make sissy Christians feel, Jesus promoted fear and discipline. In fact, He said the peace-makers were the blessed ones. A compromised Christianity has given us the weak version of America that we see today. Go with me, if you will, to the invasion of Iraq in 2003. The invasion was launched with an offensive strategy described by our military as “shock and awe.” This overwhelming mil- itary offensive incapacitated the Iraqi forces. That was a per- fect illustration of peace making…in fact the military named the offensive “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” What followed after the offensive was an initiative to keep the peace that the peace-makers had established. The peace-makers paved the way for the peace-keepers. It is the peace-makers that the Bible calls “the children of God.”

Let me explain. You do not have to be a “man of God” to be God’s man. In fact, history is replete with strong, sometimes compromised men, being used by OUR LORD to advance a Kingdom. Say what you will about hard talking, hard living John the Baptist, but Jesus declared of His cousin “of all those born unto a woman none was greater than John the Baptist.” Let that one soak in your soup. God sent an unpolished man to do a Christian man’s job. They locked John up…Jesus didn’t even go to visit him. This is not, by any means, a full-throated en- dorsement of Donald Trump. I, too, have my eye on him and much of what he does con- cerns me. But I can tell you one thing that you can put in your pipe and smoke…Donald Trump is God’s man for this day and hour. I’m sorry if he is too harsh for you…not soft like most men in America’s pulpits today. We should all be praying for him…not against him. To do otherwise in disobedience to God’s Word. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplica- tions, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” Or how about Daniel 2:21? “He changes times and seasons; He de- poses kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.”

No one becomes President without the approval of God. HE gave us Donald Trump. Is it for deliverance or is he the judgment of God on a once-Christian nation? Time will tell. May God be merciful in the spanking we deserve.

Sometimes the forces of darkness have to wait until the Father comes home.

That’s why some Americans hate President Trump so much. He understands that sometimes only raw power and force will get the attention of the unruly children. There can be no peace keeping until the peace-maker has done his job. That seems so…well…unChristian in today’s “who are you to judge” post-Christian society. Study the Bible and you will find that many of the leaders that God used were not soft, compliant men. Have you ever heard of David…Daniel…Moses…John the Baptist…

“You wait ‘til your Father

gets home!”
