Letters to the Editor Examine Yourselves, Whether Ye Be In the Faith
Editor, Wisconsin Christian News: January 2026 What do these verses conjure within you when you read them? “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abom- inable, and murderers, and whore mongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brim- stone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8 KJV). “And whoso- ever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15 KJV). Does fear fill your soul? Or how about conviction? Or what about re- pentance? Or maybe it’s absolutely nothing at all, because you don’t think that it is real or will happen to you. You are, after all, the “perfect Christian.” But there is a reality to this lie if you choose to know it and believe it. Yet for many, it is too harsh to even read, let alone preach about. Which verses am I speaking about? “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not everyone that saith unto Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall not enter into the kingdom of Heaven: but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in Heaven. Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophe- sied in Thy name? And in “Thy name have cast out devils? And in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then I will profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:20-23 KJV). We all need conviction in our spiritual growth. If this is not happening in your life, you better do some serious exam- ining of your life. “Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves, know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?” (2 Corinthi- ans 13:5 KJV). Why is this examining so important? It is needed to grow in your faith. Be- cause if you are not growing in your faith, are you really saved? The simple answer is no. This is what the gist of this previous verse is speaking about. Especially the word “reprobates,” which means to be rejected and to be cast away. Remember also the Para- ble of the Sower in Matthew chapter 13. I watched a movie not too long ago called “Time Changer.” It is a good movie, but if compared to today’s cin- ematic movies, it is lacking in that lus- ter. Yet the message that the movie has surpasses any of that cinematic hogwash. In a nutshell, the premise is what happens when we don’t recog- nize the authority that we get our morals from, and how it will affect so- ciety as a whole. I understand this concept all too well. After all, I am writ- ing this from a prison cell. The movie also hints at the lost art of that good ole fire and brimstone preaching. The church is lacking in this type of preaching, and is therefore close to death. Think of Laodicea. Very few preach the whole counsel of God, (Acts 20:27). The Laodiceans thought that they were rich, but they were naked and blind. Most of today’s churches are the same way. We won’t preach on sin — too controversial. We won’t preach on hell. “Our God is a God of love and would never send you there.” The Lake of Fire is symbolic and is not real or eternal, for that matter. We sure won’t touch politics with ten foot pole. We can’t lose our 501c3 status with the
IRS. Yet overall, every political party is of the devil. We even obey to point stu- pidity — remem- ber “six feet apart?” Church was forbidden. The “worship music” of today is like a heathen rock concert.
lying and covet- ing what is not yours. No won- der we are told the following. “This know also, that in the last days per- ilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boast- ers, proud, blas- p h e m e r s ,
away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowl- edge of the truth. But evil men and se- ducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to them- selves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 3:1-7, 4:3-4 KJV). But we are all at fault, and by “all,” I mean the truly born again along with the heathens. We forgot to teach our- selves and children that our morals are only found in Jesus Christ. To use a prison phrase, “Put a name on it.” That name is Jesus Christ. He is the Author of all morals and absolute truth. He is the authority behind the morals. -J. There is no con- viction behind the lyrics. Fake glorification of God. And let’s not forget about what God calls an abomination. It was, from the beginning, Adam and Eve, it was never Adam and Steve. Marriage is to be be- tween one man and one woman. The world worships the pagan god of Mol- ech. They just renamed it “Planned Parenthood.” Sixty three million and counting in this country alone. Then there are all of the Christian- ized cliches. They might sound good, but they are all lacking the authority of Scripture. Sayings such as “What would Jesus do?” I’ve personally had other “Christians” say this to me when they think that I am being harsh or too legalistic in their minds. My quick and Scripturally sound response is always, “To the lake of fire.” They are always taken aback when I say this. But per- haps if they asked me the correct question, there would be a different an- swer. You see, by asking “What would Jesus do,” it is the wrong dispensation of Jesus’ program. The dispensation is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. The dispensation is now one of Judge. The Lamb was sacrificed and the blood debt was paid. So if you are not born again, you will spend your eternity in the Lake of Fire. This is the Scriptural truth whether you want to believe it or not. Now the proper question should be, “What has Jesus done?” If I were asked that question my answer would be: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV). One more very popular saying is to “Invite Jesus into your heart.” Now I could be just be splitting hairs with this one. But what do the Scriptures say about this? We are to “...love the Lord thy God with all thy heart...” (Matthew 22:37 KJV). Love is does not mean “invite.” “...believe in thine heart...” (Romans 10:9 KJV). Believing does not mean invite. “...God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts...” (Galatians 4:6 KJV). Having His Spirit in our hearts does not mean invite. “...Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith...” (Ephesians 3:17 KJV). Christ does dwell in our hearts, but it is by faith, not an invitation. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts.” (1 Peter 3:15 KJV). We are to sanctify God in our hearts. Does sanctify mean invite? Nope. In all actuality this saying isn’t even Scriptural. But it is not considered blasphemy to say and believe it. Did you know that we live in an “A,B,C” society? You probably don’t know understand this acronym. It stands for “Anything But Christ.” But this is where we are at in this world. Just to mention that Jesus Christ is the only way to eternal life in Heaven is discarded as rubbish. Jesus Christ is
no longer allowed anywhere in society today other than inside the churches — where He belongs, they tell us. Can the Creator be contained in a box? You want to see an example of this ignorance? Go and tell someone about the saving gift of eternal life found only in Jesus Christ when they are watching any kind of sporting event. You might come back with a bloody lip. They worship the crown that is corruptible (1Corinthians 9:25). Do you want to get a glimpse of how our society is faring? Look at today’s children, young adults and entertain- ment. What do you observe? They lie, they steal, they commit sexual im- morality. Our Creator, Jesus Christ, is a curse word. Nudity and murder are common place in nearly every movie. As a people, we are so desensitized to the abominations that we see every day. Really, we can’t see that there are only two genders, male and fe- male? They put down God’s Word as fairy tales and unscientific. But what do they do? A male can be female and vice versa. What ever happened to a thing called chromosomes? How did they manage to change them around? We know and tell our chil- dren that when the princess kisses the frog and it becomes a prince, that this is just a fairy tale. Then in the govern- ment-run indoctrination institutions, they teach the children that evolution is how everything came to be. In other words, the frog became you. From the goo to the zoo to you. They say that “it takes a village” to raise a child. What did this village teach them? Yes, children it is wrong to steal. Yes, children it is wrong to lie. But yes, children it is okay to use the name of Jesus Christ as a profan- ity. After all, there was no proof that He was real, they say. Yes, children you must believe that we only came about as people by chance. No, chil- dren there is no hell. You live and die and then there is nothing afterwards. Yes, children the devil is red and has a forked tail. He carries his pitchfork wherever he goes. He is not the angel of light, that great deceiver. He even has his own alphabet now, “LBGTO+ etc.etc.” Yes, children the man at pulpit says all roads and gods lead to Heaven. But really there is only one way. Some village. Good job. But what if the village raised the children with the Bible and what it teaches? If we taught everyone from the get go the importance of the Ten Commandments. How would society be faring now? We could have taught about the dangers of polytheism, idols, false swearing. How the Sab- bath is vital for the body and mind with one day of rest. We could have taught how obedience to our parents is vital for a healthy functional adult. That wanton murder is wrong. That adultery is wicked along with theft,
disobedient to parents, unthankful, un- holy, without natural affection, truce- breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God: Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
