A Forgotten People
By JR Harrison, Natural Family Foundation January 2026 As far as we can tell, the U.S. appropriations for Ukraine are in the ballpark of
The Gift of Giving Where to start? I have quite recently talked with a few of the rescue groups on the ground regarding the current status in NW Carolina

which seems to be the hardest hit by the devastation. The folks I have been speaking with are Wayne Allred and Bud McCall of apokalypsnu.com/operation- mountain-relief/ and a hus- band and wife team, Nate and Kristin Cerepak of RedneckHousingRelief.com . All of them have been there from the beginning. You can start by contacting one of them and/or get your church involved as well. This is who we are If you know and can find oth- ers in the area that are helping, then go for it. And please know that the bottom line in helping folks like the victims in Ten- nessee, the Carolinas and other
$174 billion by early 2025 (con- gressional supplemental appro- priations FY2022–FY2024).
There are also apparently unac- countable billions that have been supposedly expended to support immigrant families in our country, with the State of Minnesota and Ohio coming to mind, among others. It’s also worth mentioning that the drive-by media has spent a great deal of time making sure that we don’t forget about Ukraine in the news. We also have troops all around the globe and currently with many of them sur- rounding the country of Venezuela. Out of sight Did I happen to mention that there is still a large group of hurricane-ravaged Americans in the Carolinas and Tennessee who need the help of America as well? “Out of sight out of mind,” right? According to sources in Western North Carolina, the number of those still in need is in the thousands, quite possibly approaching a hundred thousand. Hundreds were killed by Hurricane Helene with bodies still appearing, even 16 months after the event, and yes, former homeowners are still living in tents, way too many with their children . . . Yet, crickets. Good enough for Government work As far as State, county and federal assistance being available, opinions seem to vary when it comes to how much these government entities have helped. Some will say that, yes it’s difficult to get help, especially when it comes to FEMA, as denial after denial after appeal after appeal seems endless. Many folks have just plain given up on Gov- ernment assistance, having gotten the cold shoulder from home insurance companies and local authorities as well. I’ve also been told that many residents who can’t live in their homes must still pay property taxes AND for insurance they can’t use or benefit from. It’s hard to believe that there are still those from the afflicted areas and those who were called to the area that are still having to battle the elements and on occasion, local officials, in their efforts to help the remaining victims. Many of those who have committed to continue to
southern states of Hurricane Helene is who we are as Americans — and Christians. Amen?
Rainbow behind the clouds But here’s the good news. As you walk
around the hills and hollers of the af- fected communities, there is no TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome), no emphasis on diversity, equity, inclu- sion, nor Republican vs Democrat or Left vs Right. There are simply people who help people and people who need help. Down to earth folks who are striv- ing to supply basic needs — food, water, shelter — which seems to bring out the best in us all. But folks, they need help and a lot more of it. If you see a need The rescue personnel that are on the ground helping out the local residents could really use some help now more than ever. How can you help? Glad you asked. Yes, money, of course, and basic provisions, but more than that, they could use our help reminding all Americans that the devastation still ex- ists. Why not let your church and govern- ment representatives know that their fellow Americans need help just as much as Ukraine and how about get- ting some soldiers or a corps of military engineers down there? Ask the Presi- dent/Vice President if they are aware of the current status or maybe get the president’s wife interested in helping out. We cannot let these folks down any further. They need help from their fellow Americans
