Hello from Ardmac, Welcome to our quarterly newsletter, where we will keep you up to date with current developments and thinking within our Data centre Business Unit. First of all I would like to welcome Jason Casey to our team. Jason has been managing our Cleanroom business for a number of years and been instrumental in implementing our digital platforms, applying Lean principles and building high performing teams, for which he recently won Operations Manager of the year at the Operational Excellence awards. Jason will ensure these processes are fully embedded across all our data centre projects as we continue to grow and reach new territories. Technology is changing how we do business – how we communicate and share information, collate real timedata, increaseproductivityand better forecast future outcomes. At Ardmac we are concluding our implementation of “Working Smart”; the digitalisation of all our business activities, and we provide you with an overview of how this is delivering value for our clients and our business. Digitisation, coupledwithOff-SiteManufacture (OSM), is changing the way we build at Ardmac. In this edition, we share how we are constructing the cold aisle containment, and collaborating with the electrical contractor to fit services offsite on a project in Denmark.

Over the coming months we will be featuring further products as we fully embrace OSM. We have also launched a virtual showroom which allows the visitor to navigate around the whitespace and explore products and solutions. In 2021 Ardmac became a member of Host in Ireland, which increases the awareness and benefits of hosting data centres in Ireland, supports Irish companies working in the sector abroad and provides a forum to network and discuss this growing industry. One of Host in Ireland’s initiatives is ‘DCs for Bees’ which we are proud to support and have committed to planting orchards later this year. We have also partnered with a number of Mental Health charities – Pieta House, Manchester Mind and the construction industry charity, Lighthouse, who we will be helping raise funds and spread awareness of the issues and services available. One of our big events will be the Ardmac Cycle for Hope on World Mental Health Day in October. We have created an Interactive Virtual Data Centres Showroom for you to better understand Data Centre design and construction. The model demonstrates integrated controlled environment solutions including ceiling supported and ground supported structural hot and cold aisle containment, fire-stopping solutions, security mesh partitions, fire rated modular partitions, doors with security ironmongery, and suspended modular and structural ceiling systems.

I N T R O D U C I N G Jason Casey

Jason Casey’s career spans over 20 years in the construction industry with a vast array of experience in different sectors and multiple different roles. Post completing a BSc (Hons) degree at University of Ulster Belfast, Jason joined Ardmac in 2006 and has grown his career with the business over the last 15 years delivering projects for clients including Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, MSD, Nissan, Alexion, Wuxi Biologics, Abbvie, Johnson & Johnson, Facebook & Google. As a site manager Jason worked in retail & commercial fit out across Ireland and the UK before joining the Ardmac cleanroom division in 2009, where he spent the following 10 years successfully leading delivery teams on complex projects across Ireland and the UK. management, and communication have enabled progression to project manager (2013), contracts manager (2015), operations manager (2017) and associate operations director (2019). In 2021 Jason was promoted to deputy managing director for Ardmac data centre division across Europe responsible for implementing strategic objectives of operational excellence, growth, people development and increased R&D through innovation. Jason also leads the Ardmac Lean governance team, which aims to improve operational excellence and culture within the business, informing and aligning with Ardmac strategic principles. These principles include safety first, understanding our customer, respect always, excellence as a standard and delivering our brand promise. He is a mentor within the award winning Ardmac graduate programme and believes it is critical that the construction industry takes the time and effort required to develop our graduates to ensure a growing industry can be sustainable and efficient. Jason believes success in the construction industry is reliant upon new ways of thinking and working including industry wide collaboration. In 2017 Jason joined Lean Construction Ireland and became a Director and Vice Chair in 2018. Lean Construction Ireland (LCi) is an all-island, independent and voluntary not-for-profit organisation that advocates for the adoption of Lean thinking and practices by the Irish construction sector so as to enable and sustain enhanced effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and profitability for all stakeholders in the value chain.

He believes in shared knowledge and learnings and has presented learnings on operational excellence at the LCi Annual conference and Enterprise Excellence conferences. Jason is committed to our Sky Blue programme and has been instrumental in fundraising to give back to communities. In 2019, he was selected to complete Ardmac’s Building Better Leaders Programme with Trinity Business School. Jason is also a chartered Construction Manager with CIOB.

DCs For Bees is an industry initiative to help save Ireland’s declining bee population. DCs for Bees

As many of you are aware, Ardmac have partnered with Host in Ireland this year. Host in Ireland works to inform global decision-makers within the technology and data industries about Ireland’s data hosting calibre and capabilities. Host in Ireland have launched “DCs for Bees” as a sub-initiative and Ardmac are proud to be part of this! DCs For Bees is an industry initiative to help save Ireland’s declining bee population. This sub initiative aims to bring an industry together in a way that has never been done before. Bees are critically endangered. They are a key contributor to the pollination of our crops, but sadly, 33% of Irish bees are facing extinction. They are an indicator for biodiversity in general and once a species is extinct this cannot be reversed and the balance of nature is affected forever. Bee pollination contributes

to 70% of the world’s crops. The success of our species is dependent on theirs. There are 98 species of bee in Ireland; nearly 1/3 are threatened with extinction. We are looking to make a difference. This initiative gives us the opportunity to not only make an individual difference but the tools to educate, advocate, create awareness and take action. Host In Ireland and its data centre industry partners are uniting to make a difference by pledging to deliver on actions to make Ireland more pollinator friendly and ensure the survival of our pollinators for future generations. As part of this Ardmac have committed to planting 8 orchards this November.

Protect areas at your office or data centre land that are already providing food and shelter for pollinators. Mow 1/3 of all grassy areas at your office or data. Try to have pollinator- friendly plants in flower the whole time pollinators are active, from March all the way through to October. Provide nesting habitats. They are not aggressive, have no interest in interacting with humans and do not present any risk to the public or employees. Reduce use of pesticides. Pesticides include insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. All of these can be harmful to pollinators, either directly.

You can support the DCs for Bees Pollinator Plan by raising awareness in your supply chain, local community or workplace. Influence your local authority, supply chain and local businesses to take pollinator-friendly actions. Develop a community campaign. Fund printing of the Junior Pollinator Plan for local schools. Sponsor pollinator- friendly planting in local communities. Fund construction or purchase of bee hotels for local community groups. Sponsor a pollinator- friendly award.

Modular Suspended Structural Aisle Containment Solution case study

In late 2020 Ardmac were appointed to deliver the specialist interior fit-out of a hyper-scale data centre project in Denmark for a well-known global brand. Part of the scope includes suspended structural ceiling grids and a bespoke aisle containment solution tailored to the end user’s needs. Aisle containment systems enclose the space between server racks, collecting the IT equipment’s hot exhaust air, while the data hall architectural elements create a large cold-air plenum. This keeps the hot and cold air streams separated, ensuring effective cooling and PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness).

Given the complexity of the build and the requirement for fully integrated electrical services within suspended structural cold aisles, modular solutions leveraging the benefits of off-site construction and DfMA strategies have been utilised. Supplementing our Building SMART approach, BIM has played an important role in the coordination and procurement of the components and the interdependent services. Our Architectural Technologists work closely with other trades to ensure a zero-risk delivery of the solution. Early engagement and collaboration with the client and other supply chain partners has created opportunity to manufacture, procure and assemble the solution in an off-site location close to the facility ahead of traditional programme commencement dates. This approach allows the construction of the ceiling and aisle containment systems to commence ahead of the critical path and room ready dates. All components are pre-ordered and manufactured in accordance with the approved design proposal to allow a zero waste off-site assembly of the modular cold aisle, demonstrating our continued commitment to sustainable construction methods. Pre-fitting of integrated electrical services in an off-site location close to the facility is just one of the resulting benefits of the approach resulting in a LEAN project delivery and early schedule activity for multiple trades.

Improved labour production within the factory setting and the resulting speed of install of the aisle containment modules in the data centre facility has positive knock-on effects for subsequent trade activities. Modular cold aisles and ceiling systems are assembled in factory controlled conditions, enhancing safe working conditions and reducing working at height, while elevating quality standards in comparison to traditional construction methods, generating PMV (Pre-Manufactured Value) for our clients.

Ardmac are delighted to invite you to our Cycle for Hope fundraiser, in aid of Pieta House. The cycle will take place on the 10th of October and will start and finish at the site adjacent to the Ardmac office in Swords. The cycle will have three different routes to cater for different levels of cycling ability; a 100k cycle, a 60k cycle and a family fun cycle of 20k. Cycle for Hope is a guaranteed great day out in aid of a fantastic charity and we hope to see you there. Please save the date and we will update you once our registrations page is live. At Ardmac, we are all very aware of the physical risks and on-site threats. We put Safety First in everything we do. But what about the dangers we can’t see? Depression, Anxiety, Stress and Suicidal Thoughts are just as dangerous as the tangible on- site hazards. Over the past number of years there has been an increasing number of employees in the construction industry suffering from mental health issues. A 2020 study found that 83% of construction workers have experienced a mental health issue. Mental health issues are in discriminatory and affect people in all roles. We place huge focus on regulations and on-site safety but mental health needs to be prioritised just as highly as wearing a hard hat or protective goggles. That’s why this year, Ardmac have chosen their 3 charity partners with a focus on mental health; Pieta House, Manchester Mind and The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity. Ardmac is aiming to help tackle this issue by increasing awareness of the mental health issues within the construction industry, providing the support and resources for our staff and raising vital funds for our charity partners.

“SAFETY FIRST” - THAT’S OUR MOTTO AT ARDMAC, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE DANGERS WE CAN’T SEE?

Pieta House has helped over 58,000 people to date in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm. The charity provides a free of charge professional one-to-one therapeutic service, staffed by over 200 therapists, for people who are experiencing suicidal ideation, people who have attempted suicide and people who are engaging in self-harm.

Manchester Mind marked 30 years in September of delivering mental health support to the people of Manchester. It is committed to improving the lives of people with mental health needs in the area and delivers a wide range of services to support people’s mental health. Last year, over 6,500 people received support, information and training from Manchester Mind.

And finally, this is our first year partnering with Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity. This is a charity organisation who specialise in supporting construction workers and their families through financial, family and mental health problems. They have a 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline for those who would like to speak with someone in a confidential manner.
